The 2020 Good Design Awards will be announced over five days throughout the 2020 Good Design Week from 7 to 11 September and we’re inviting you to be a part of the celebrations.

While we can’t host our usual Good Design Awards Ceremony this year, we’re not going to let the restrictions get in the way of celebrating the best of design for 2020.

The Good Design Week will be filled with good news and inspiring content to recognise, reward and celebrate the innovative minds behind this year’s Good Design Award winning projects.

The Wallflower Music Hall, Architectural Design – Interior Design Category

DAY ONE – MONDAY 7 SEPTEMBER

835 Entries, 55 expert judges, 11 Design disciplines and 35 categories all centred around one uniting purpose: GOOD DESIGN FOR A BETTER WORLD. With a record number of entries this year, we’re looking forward to showcasing the incredible depth and breadth of projects that made the cut in this year’s Awards. Get ready to celebrate every day during the week as we announce the 2020 Good Design Awards Winners.

Chapter2 AO Bike, Product Design, Sport and Lifestyle Category

DAY TWO – TUESDAY 8 SEPTEMBER

Day Two kicks off with a welcome message from our Patron, Dr. Jan Owen AM HON DLITT, followed by the announcement of the 2020 Good Design Award Winners and Good Design Australia’s 2020 Industry Awards including:

  • The Patron’s Australian Design Award
  • MAAS Design Award
  • Design Institute of Australia Award
  • Greener Spaces Better Places Design Award
  • Automotive Design Award – Interior Design Award
  • Automotive Design Award – Exterior Design Award
Bauhaus, Product Design – Furniture and Lighting Design Category

DAY THREE – WEDNESDAY 9 SEPTEMBER

Day Three of the Good Design Week will announce the coveted Good Design Award Gold Winners.

We’ll hear from the Chair of Good Design Australia, Maureen Thurston who will give us an insight into the Good Design Awards Judging process this year and introduce our 2020 Jury to share their thoughts on the year.

Prof. Laurene Vaughan, Dean of Design at RMIT will also present the 2020 The Indigenous Designer Award.

DAY FOUR – THURSDAY 10 SEPTEMBER

The Good Design Award Best in Class Winners represent the pinnacle of design excellence with less than 4% of projects being recognised at this level.

Our General Manager, Rachel Wye will introduce the winners of this coveted Award and we’ll hear from some of this year’s Best in Class winners on their projects and the impact they will have on our world.

We will also be announcing the prestigious Australian Design Prize and Women in Design Award.

DAY FIVE – FRIDAY 11 SEPTEMBER

Today is the big one…we announce the prestigious Good Design Team of the Year Award, Good Design Award for Sustainability and of course, Australia’s highest design honour – the Good Design Award of the Year.

We’ll hear from the CEO of Good Design Australia, Dr. Brandon Gien as he shares his insights on the year and gives us an overview of these prestigious Awards.

We’ll hear from the teams behind each of these projects and share their excitement as they celebrate the significance of these accolades.
