The client’s brief was to create a small compact room with the luxury of space, however, inclusive of all of life’s essentials. This studio offers flexibility by eliminating the fixed, bulky items such as a full-sized kitchen as each inhabitant has access to common facilities of an all-inclusive kitchen, common room & courtyard so that their room includes only the bare essentials.

The overall product although all custom & extremely detailed was finished within budget. The rooms were completed under $20,000 per room, all inclusive. Value engineering was undertaken along the way to ensure it was feasible for the client, however the adjustments were strategic in order to ensure the initial design intent & integrity of the project stayed intact when viewed from outside or inside; finishes were exhibited with the highest exposure. From a practical perspective; within a compact 19 sq.m room we were able to pack away a wardrobe, sofa, dining table & stools underneath the double bed to create free open space.

UKO Stanmore offers a sustainable solution in an otherwise difficult property market offering inhabitants a compact studio close to Sydney’s central hub in Stanmore. UKO Stanmore shakes up the rental market by offering an all-inclusive package of paid bills, changed linen, collaborative activities such as dinners & yoga sessions held by a live-in host for an affordable fixed weekly fee.

Outside of a resident's room; tenants are able to enjoy the social benefits of a co-living environment. UKO Stanmore provides regular organised social events and activities for all residents ranging from yoga classes to movie nights and communal cooking activities in their full sized kitchen.
