Sydney Art Deco Restoration

The design challenge was to restore the home back to its original glory whilst understanding the current market as it was renovated for sale. When working with the home we wanted to embrace the era but appeal to buyers.

We suggested to paint out the dark timber interior whilst leaving some specific features. Carpets were removed to discover the gem of original parquetry floors that were restored back to life. The furnishings played a significant role in telling the story of the homes past while helping potential buyers visualise the modern family home and how it would function. We did this through decor to enhance some original details like the decorative fire places and original deco bathrooms whilst modernising the homes functionality through furniture layout and a rich but lighter colour palette.

A true celebration of the early Art Deco era, "ANDOS" reflects the quality and meticulous craftsmanship on a level 1,300sqm parcel. It was important to enhance the home that reflects Cheltenham's history rather than taking it away, therefore remaining a significant design within the area for years to come.

A generous floor plan providing a selection of elegant formal and informal living spaces with newly refurbished parquetry floor that transitions in pattern as you move through the home. The Grand lounge room has freshly painted high vaulted ceilings built for the avid musician. The picturesque formal dining room features an original Italian marble fireplaces and boasts 4 large bedrooms with an elegant master offering a large original art deco ensuite and private balcony to which one can retreat to bake in the northern sun. The home was fully furnished for sale in a considered and contemporary Art Deco style.
