The Pandia is an understated glass light collection for hospitality spaces. When designing Pandia, Unios and Chris Connell placed the harvest moon at the centre of its design ethos. As such, Pandia is comfortable and holds a subtle presence in the world around it – not to outshine but to belong.

  • Intended for hospitality settings, Pandia's design parameters focus on three aspects. First, as a glass fixture, Pandia must showcase the medium's distinctness. Second, for comfort, it has to mimic the harvest moon, with a warm glow, uniformly lit from a distance, revealing details up close. Finally, it needs to remain unassuming with versatility by having a flat form and strong consistency between its variations. A core design challenge was balancing flatness and light uniformity. In the current market, options prioritising a flat body can reveal dotting, especially when dimmed, while increasing thickness to enhance diffusion compromises the flat, minimalist form.

  • Mimicking the harvest moon, the Pandia glows in warm 2700K, showcasing versatile nature of glass as it features three textures, clear cast glass with imprinted honeycomb details on the internal surface that remain hidden from afar and emerge up close. The opaque glass edge refracts and reflects light onto the wall, creating a soft moonlit glow that reduces contrasts for comfort. To solve the thickness and uniformity challenge, rigorous prototyping of the LED spacing with a secondary internal diffuser enabled Pandia's uniform illumination at 63mm, even at 10% dimming – all in one form, consistent across two sizes and mounting.

  • Consistent in design, the Pandia adapts seamlessly to any hospitality setting. In restaurant settings, the wall version serves as ambient and accent lighting, creating a soft, enveloping glow, while the suspended version functions as task lighting for intimate dining. This approach reinforces a cohesive theme across spaces, from low-light fine dining to brighter cafes. Moreover, the interchangeable backplate system ensures that wall and pendant models share identical design features, reducing material waste during production.

  • Through its textured glass surface, The Pandia Glass Collection creates three distinct lighting effects, much like the shifting light of the moon. The moonlight effect features a soft, diffused honeycomb pattern that reduces glare while casting a warm, inviting glow. The glowing backlit effect, reminiscent of a moon’s halo, forms a subtle halo of light surrounding the fixture, emphasising the intricate structure of the clear cast moulded glass. The frosted opaque effect diffuses illumination, providing a gentle, atmospheric glow that enhances comfort. Inspired by the two moons of Mars, Phobos and Deimos, Pandia is available in two sizes: Phobos (130mm), offering focused ambient lighting ideal for intimate spaces like tables and hallways, and Deimos (250mm), providing broader light coverage suited for larger areas such as dining spaces and lobbies. Pandia delivers soft task lighting over surfaces as a suspended light while maintaining an elegant, lightweight presence. As a forward-throw wall light, it emits a warm glow that enhances the spatial ambience. To complement a variety of interiors, Pandia is available in four finishes—Black, White, Slate Grey, and Dusty Green—allowing seamless integration into contemporary and classic design palettes.
