Australia’s small SUV segment is one of the most fiercely contested car market categories. Buyers are motivated by both the form and the functionality of new products. Design is key, and the Qashqai is one of Nissan’s most style-forward offerings, blending contemporary looks with convenience, practicality, and emissions-reducing e-POWER technology.

  • Given the ubiquity of SUVs on Australian roads, one of the key challenges for the Nissan design team was to create a new look that retained the basic proportions of the third-generation Qashqai while adding enough visual differentiation to cut through. Designers were tasked with adding extra visual flair and differentiation to the new range-topping Qashqai e-POWER N-Design to ensure it stands apart from competitors and stablemates. This differentiation is an important step in helping drive the adoption of e-POWER, an innovative fuel-saving technology that helps the end user save money and benefits the broader community by reducing tailpipe emissions.

  • The addition of N-Design furthers the Qashqai’s appeal by creating a new highly featured, design-led grade with a differentiated exterior and upmarket interior. The refreshed exterior design showcases a striking new grille with intricate patterning. The grille consists of dozens of three-dimensional comma-shaped elements which are repeated as a design motif in the daytime running lights and rear LED lighting. Other exterior changes include handsome diamond-cut 20-inch alloy wheels, body-coloured wheel arches, gloss-black mirror covers and roof rails. The sophisticated interior is cloaked in sumptuous Alcantara and synthetic leather accents and incorporates numerous safety and convenience features.

  • The original Nissan Qashqai helped pioneer the urban crossover SUV, while this 2025 update moves the segment to a more sophisticated positioning, adding features and technologies not typically available at this price point. The addition of N-Design with e-POWER broadens the reach of this fuel-saving system to more motorists at a time when many Australians are seeking low-emissions options. Range anxiety remains a barrier to wide-scale EV adoption, but e-POWER requires no behavioural change for a driver accustomed to a vehicle with an internal-combustion engine. The impact of this could be far-reaching, helping motorists transition to an electric future.

  • - The e-POWER system comprises a high-output battery complemented by a variable compression 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, a power generator, inverter, and electric motor. The petrol engine generates the electricity, which can be transmitted via the inverter to the battery pack, the electric motor, or both. Power to the wheels comes only from the electric motors, resulting in instant, linear response, and impressive fuel efficiency. - The Qashqai remains the most affordable way into e-POWER and adding it to additional variants broadens the appeal of this engineering breakthrough. - The updated Qashqai maintains a 5-Star ANCAP safety rating and comes equipped with a wide range of advanced driver assistance features, such as Nissan’s ProPILOT+. - The updated 2025 Qashqai debuts Nissan’s Connected Car Services (NissanConnect Services - CCS1.0) in Australia. Using the NissanConnect Services app, owners have instant access to their vehicle, with the ability to monitor vehicle health and status information, trip history and vehicle disturbances, including Theft and Tow Alert. - Nissan has addressed ownership costs by introducing an industry-leading 10-years, 300,000km warranty with 10-years of Roadside Assistance, and a five-year Flat-Price Service deal that delivers savings of up to $1064 on Qashqai servicing over five years.
