  • The project set out to meet a broad span of critical objectives: - Break free of the bulky form typical of this equipment type - an ambitious aim given the dominating size of internal transformers. - Reduce installation time by eliminating cable glands - requiring a new approach to water ingress protection for outdoor installation. - Effectively manage heat from transformers to maximize energy efficiency and prevent thermal runaway - significantly challenging in a sealed unit, especially hot conditions typical poolside. - Provide the user with a large-format status display and intuitive interface, considering technology limitations imposed by the high operating and ambient temperatures.

  • Cobalt developed and trialed a comprehensive series of concepts, resulting in a break-through rearward projection of the transformer. This ingenious solution provides: - A slimmer main form, floating from the wall. - A full-flat front face to accommodate large-format GUI. - Opportunity for an inherently protected rear cable entry, subsequently extensively refined to allow simple 'lay-in' cable routing with a snap-in cover completing ingress protection. While this solution achieved many objectives, it impinged on the footprint of the existing heatsink, requiring careful optimisation of the new design. This effort has ultimately delivered improved thermal performance in a smaller heatsink footprint.

  • The new floating form-factor provides the foundation for a total shift in product aesthetic. Full rounds on vertical faces both soften and reduce bulk with clean sophistication and are capped by a dynamic slicing which presents the brand colour without overpowering. With an intuitive interface able to be read at distance, the product is elevated to the realm of consumer electronics and architectural design, setting the Diamond Mineraliser as a design leader in a global market. Equally, innovations addressing user-experience of technicians, especially in cable installation, reduce time and effort on-site and reinforce the brand's standing within the industry.

  • Installation is greatly simplified by the elimination of cable-glands. Instead, a cable bay in a protected area below the main housing allows for lay-in cable routing ( no holes to pull through or glands to thread and install) and simple plug-in connection. The Graphical User Interface (GUI) incorporates an LED status ring and a segmented numerical readout, large enough to be viewable at a distance. A touch screen display with a bespoke user interface sits beneath, allowing for user control and access to more granular information. Both of these elements integrate to form a single cohesive interface that wraps over the main body in a unique visual element. A carefully integrated hinged cover ships as standard, and can be optionally fitted by the user or installer using just two screws. This option increases thermal protection in regions of extreme heat and high UV, shielding the darker GUI area while providing a gap for updraft air circulation and cooling. The cover ‘latches’ with a concealed magnetic catch, leaving the main housing free of any hardware when not fitted. Alongside the controller, the electrolysis cell has been upgraded with a consistent aesthetic, improved manufacturability of the immersed electricals and simplified plumbing connections.
