  • The project brief required development of a deployable medical refrigeration platform capable of maintaining reliable cold-chain performance in harsh military and remote healthcare environments. The 25L and 60L systems were required to operate as both refrigerators and freezers, with a target freezer temperature of -18°C; however, the final systems achieved sustained performance down to -22°C. Designed and manufactured in Australia, the units needed to operate autonomously from battery power within standardised ADF deployment Pelican cases while meeting rigorous DEF STAN 00-35 military environmental testing requirements. Additional challenges included integrating custom refrigeration technology, rugged portability, intuitive operation, and rapid development timelines

  • Bioline Global commissioned Techcreators to design and engineer a deployable refrigeration platform comprising 25L and 60L units configurable as either freezers (target -18°C) or refrigerators for Australian Defence Force field deployment. Designed in Sydney and manufactured in Australia, the systems integrates custom-developed refrigeration components, LiFePO battery technology, autonomous temperature monitoring, data logging and alarm functionality within compact MIL-SPEC-compliant enclosures. Extensive prototyping, thermal validation and Design for Manufacture processes were undertaken to achieve compliance with DEF STAN 00-35 operational requirements. The resulting platform balanced rugged deployment capability, portability, serviceability and scalable manufacture while delivering reliable cold-chain performance in harsh remote environments.

  • The X-COOL system improves the capability of deployable healthcare operations by enabling reliable cold-chain management in remote and demanding environments. The project delivered a practical and manufacturable solution capable of supporting critical medical logistics where conventional refrigeration systems are unsuitable. The ruggedised, battery-powered design reduces operational limitations associated with infrastructure dependence and improves mobility for frontline healthcare support. Commercially, the project established a scalable platform adaptable to multiple deployment scenarios and refrigeration requirements. The project demonstrates how integrated industrial design and engineering can deliver robust, user-focused outcomes for highly specialised operational applications.

  • X-COOL, purpose-designed and engineered by Techcreators in Sydney for Bioline Global and manufactured in Australia, supports ADF deployable healthcare operations, including use in active theatres and forward operational environments. The 25L and 60L systems were developed and tested against the rigorous DEF STAN 00-35 military environmental testing standard, ensuring reliable operation under extreme vibration, temperature variation, transport stress and harsh field conditions. Both units can operate as either freezers or refrigerators depending on mission requirements.A key technical challenge involved the development and integration of custom-designed refrigeration components engineered specifically for the compact deployment envelope and thermal performance requirements of the platform. Integrated LiFePO battery systems enable autonomous, extended-duration operation in remote environments without reliance on fixed infrastructure. The units were also designed to operate from multiple power sources, including 12–28V DC and 100–250V AC, allowing continued operation across varying deployment, transport and field support conditionsDevelopment emphasised on Design for Manufacture, serviceability and operational reliability. Internal layouts, airflow management, assembly methodologies and servicing access were carefully resolved to support efficient manufacture, maintenance and deployment in demanding field conditions.X-COOL delivers rugged, scalable, mission-ready refrigeration capability for defence, humanitarian response and remote medical operations in high-risk environments.
