  • Designers were challenged to develop this accessory device compatible with the performance, usability and appearance of its companion two-way radio. A key goal was to address wearability and safety issues by eliminating the tangling, snagging, and choke hazard associated with physical cables; a condition exacerbated by the wide variety of user body types. Physical retention to avoid device loss was also a major consideration as removing the cable eliminated the primary tethering element. Other critical challenges include requirements for: Gloved use, mission critical ruggedness standards, ease of charging, audio performance and battery life.

  • The bluetooth link between microphone and radio increases officer safety and comfort by eliminating the tangling, snagging, and choke hazard associated with physical cables. Advanced wind porting with four high dynamic range (HDR) microphones and adaptive noise suppression technology enable the WM800 to track and capture only the user’s voice while filtering unwanted background noise to improve critical communication clarity. Large push-to-talk, emergency buttons and volume control are designed for easy access with gloves and recessed to prevent accidental activation. Voice control gives users hands free control and additional operational flexibility.

  • Budget and personnel constraints drive police organizations to seek equipment and procedures to improve productivity, increase safety, and reduce cost. Body worn microphones are a proven necessity in the officers communications kit and often a mandatory requirement. However the traditional fixed cable has proven to be a weak point for the system as it can be a physical hazard for users. This is especially true as a wider variety of officer body types and sizes is deployed into the force. WM800 addresses safety and usability by giving users a familiar touchpoint while removing the limitations of a cabled device.

  • Instant pairing via NFC automatically connects WM800 to its companion radio when held in close proximity. The removable and rechargeable battery is charged with a USB-C cable or dual-unit desk charger giving organizations flexibility in charging procedures. An IP68 rating combined with rugged design guarantees reliable operation to keep WM800 users safe and connected in harsh conditions and demanding environments. An integrated task light allows users to discreetly read items such as notes or ID cards in the dark. This keeps hands free by eliminating the need to hold an additional flashlight. Optimized speaker porting is designed to rapidly shed water in weather situations where clear send and receive audio is crucial. A unique tethering system secures the device from loss and is adaptable to a wide variety of clothing types and carry systems. Dust cover design eliminates a dangling or lost cover allowing the flap to neatly tuck away when an accessory is in use.
