  • The design challenge for Werka: Mechanical Hitch centres on revolutionising cargo securing by addressing key issues plaguing current methods. Traditional ratchet strap tie-downs suffer from complexity, durability concerns, user error, and unwieldy bulkiness. Werka aims to tackle these challenges head-on, offering a solution that prioritises simplicity, robustness, user-friendliness, and streamlined design. By re-imagining the conventional approach to cargo tie-downs, Werka seeks to set a new standard in the industry, providing users with an intuitive, reliable, and efficient solution to their cargo securing needs.

  • The design solution for Werka: Mechanical Hitch stemmed from re-imagining the traditional trucker’s hitch method, known for its effectiveness in cargo securing, however more complex to tie compared to other knots and difficult to release tension. Through meticulous design and development, the Werka: Mechanical Hitch team has developed a patented quick-tighten system that prioritises simplicity, versatility and effectiveness in cargo securing, ensuring an intuitive user experience. Key milestones in the process included extensive research into user pain points, iterative prototyping to refine functionality, and rigorous load capacity testing (NATA accredited testing facility to AS/NZS 4344:2001) to ensure durability and reliability.

  • Werka: Mechanical Hitch has a profound impact across commercial, environmental, and societal realms. Commercially, it fills a market void with its user-friendly approach, potentially increasing efficiency in cargo transportation. Environmentally, Werka is designed for disassembly and utilises durable, recyclable materials, reducing waste and promoting sustainability throughout its lifecycle. Societally, Werka enhances safety on the roads by providing a reliable solution for securing cargo, potentially reducing accidents caused by improperly secured loads. Overall, Werka embodies innovation that not only benefits businesses but also contributes to a safer, more sustainable transportation landscape.

  • Werka Rope: The Werka Rope, crafted at 9mm diameter from durable polyester and boasting a breaking strain of 1500kgs, is ingeniously designed to seamlessly integrate with the Werka: Mechanical Hitch, complete with an S-hook and keeper for effortless utilisation. The Werka Rope is also UV-resistant, abrasion-resistant, and the non-stretch characteristics of the rope guarantee long-lasting reliability in outdoor environments. Glass Fibre-reinforced Body: Werka: Mechanical Hitch features a glass fibre reinforced body housing that enhances the durability and strength of the product, providing greater resistance to impact, wear, and corrosion. This reinforcement ensures reliable performance in demanding conditions, extending the product’s lifespan and reducing maintenance needs. Additionally, the lightweight nature of glass fibre allows for easier handling and transportation without compromising on robustness. Werka System: Werka: Mechanical Hitch offers versatility and efficiency, particularly when used in multiples as a system. Deploying two Werka: Mechanical Hitch’s proves ideal for longer trays or larger loads, effectively replacing the functionality of four traditional ratchet straps. This setup offers numerous benefits across various scenarios such as for intricate or irregularly shaped loads, using multiple Werkas allows for precise and adaptable securing at multiple points, ensuring stability throughout transit.
