Vorlux is a 5.5 L/min eco-luxury shower system using vortex technology to deliver a high-energy, mist-like spray at reduced water flow. Designed for mains pressure homes, it serves design-conscious, environmentally aware users seeking a high-quality shower experience without increasing water consumption or compromising everyday comfort and performance.

  • The project addresses a key limitation in the bathroom category: low-flow showers often fail to deliver the spray force, coverage, and comfort users expect, restricting widespread adoption. Research identified that perceived spray force—not flow rate alone—drives satisfaction. The brief was to achieve a compelling, high-quality shower experience at just 5.5 L/min, significantly below standard flow rates, where conventional spray engineering could not deliver adequate performance. This required rethinking internal water delivery while maintaining durability, aesthetic clarity, and compatibility with mains pressure systems, alongside more responsible material and manufacturing approaches aligned with evolving environmental expectations.

  • Vorlux resolves this challenge through a 12-nozzle vortex system that restructures low water flow into a concentrated, spiralling spray, increasing perceived pressure and coverage without increasing volume.Performance testing confirms its effectiveness, achieving an average spray force of 196.3 gf—exceeding Felton’s 8 L/min Tate Aerlux® (143.8 gf) and Halo (114.4 gf) showers—while using 30–50% less water. This demonstrates that spray performance can be improved independently of flow rate.Precision SLA 3D printing enables the complex internal geometries required, supporting rapid iteration and reduced waste. The system is optimised for mains pressure, ensuring consistent and reliable real-world performance.

  • Vorlux delivers measurable environmental, commercial, and user impact. Operating at 5.5 L/min, it reduces water consumption by up to 50% compared to conventional showers, with corresponding reductions in energy required for water heating.Despite lower water use, Vorlux achieves higher spray force than comparable higher-flow products, removing the perceived compromise of water-saving solutions and encouraging more sustainable daily behaviour.Material and manufacturing decisions—including biodegradable PLA, additive production, and in-house PVD finishing—reduce waste and avoid harmful by-products. Commercially, this strengthens Felton’s position within the eco-luxury market, offering a differentiated, performance-driven solution.

  • Vorlux integrates performance-driven engineering, advanced manufacturing, and responsible material selection to redefine low-flow shower performance. At its core is a 12-nozzle vortex system that restructures water into a high-energy, spiralling spray. This increases perceived pressure and coverage while operating at just 5.5 L/min, addressing the primary limitation of conventional low-flow showers. Performance testing confirms an average spray force of 196.3 gf, exceeding higher-flow comparison products. This performance is enabled by precision SLA 3D printing, allowing complex internal geometries that cannot be achieved through traditional moulding. The process supports rapid iteration, fine-tuning spray behaviour, and reducing material waste.Material selection reinforces environmental intent. The faceplate is produced from biodegradable PLA bioplastic, reducing reliance on petroleum-based plastics and improving end-of-life outcomes. In-house PVD finishes provide durability and consistency while avoiding harmful electroplating processes. The form is minimal and purposeful, with a cylindrical silhouette that clearly expresses function. Balanced proportions and weight distribution support comfortable, intuitive use. Available as both a handset and fixed shower rose, Vorlux adapts to varied bathroom environments while maintaining consistent performance.
