Vessev’s VS–9 is a ten-passenger electric hydrofoiling vessel combining beautifully utilitarian design with advanced technology. By lifting above the water on carbon-fibre foils, it eliminates drag and makes zero-emissions marine transport truly viable and desirable. It’s a new way to move on water that’s better for people and the planet.

  • Marine transport is essential but it's also polluting, inefficient, and noisy. While electrification has transformed how we move on land, boats have been slower to follow as they're constrained by drag, range limitations, and the sheer power needed to push through water.Vessev's challenge was bigger than building a cleaner vessel. It had to design something fundamentally new from the ground-up: zero-emissions marine transport that is genuinely desirable, commercially viable from the outset, and capable of unlocking and protecting waterways that conventional vessels can't. As Vessev's first vessel, the VS–9 also had to set a clear blueprint for future development.

  • Hydrofoiling was the unlock, making electric propulsion truly viable at commercial speeds and range. Lifting the hull above the water eliminates drag, cutting energy use by up to 90%.With no precedent for what a certified commercial electric hydrofoiling vessel should look or feel like, Vessev had to define the standard from scratch. Bringing together world-class engineers and designers, every decision was intentional, to show the world that zero-emissions marine transport was genuinely better, not a compromise. After a year of rigorous development and certification, the VS–9 entered the world's first fully commercial electric hydrofoiling operation in January 2025.

  • The VS–9 unlocks waterways previously closed to conventional vessels. With virtually no wake and zero onboard emissions, it reconnects people and places in a beautiful and sustainable way. Sensitive rivers, pristine lakes, and urban waters are now viable routes for tourism and commuter transport alike. With over 10,000 nautical miles in commercial service, the VS–9 fleet has saved over 51 tonnes of CO₂. And that's just the beginning. In places like Tasmania, Perth, and Northern Ireland, Vessev's electric hydrofoiling vessels are creating sustainable water transit networks that bring jobs, connect communities, and protect the waterways they operate on.

  • The VS–9 is built entirely from carbon fibre, making it strong and lightweight, with aerodynamics and ease of manufacture guiding the overall form. The hull topsides feature continuous soft surfacing, and the cabin is wrapped in two pieces of continuous curved glass which taper gently toward the aft with a clean trailing edge. Grip rails are integrated into the roof and the gunwale width is maximised, making bow access safer and easier. The helm is designed for ergonomics and simplicity. The display-pod holds two 16-inch navigation screens and is visually separated to enhance the sense of space. The physical controls below this are arranged for intuitive use from both seated and standing positions. The full standing-height cabin seats 10 passengers in a longitudinal configuration that encourages connection with each other and the environment outside. Angled design elements throughout tie the interior together while enhancing the overall experience.Beneath the surface, the VS–9 combines actively controlled hydrofoils, DNV type-approved LFP batteries, and Vessev's own VS–Drive – a direct-drive podded motor that delivers 65 kW of near-silent propulsion.Every element, from the proportions and silhouette to the integration of functional details, reflects a single design objective: to be beautifully utilitarian.
