The HP EliteBook X G2 is a sub-1 kg professional notebook for executives moving between back-to-back flights and high-stakes meetings with no margin for dead batteries or IT delays. It resolves the long-standing conflict between thinness, performance, and repairability without trading one off against another.

  • Ultra-thin executive notebooks had made field maintenance practically impossible — battery replacements required specialist tools, extended downtime, and a stockpile of spare devices just to keep fleets moving. The design brief shaping most premium notebooks reflected assumed executive preferences rather than the real operational priorities of IT teams managing those fleets at scale. Growing demand for on-device AI added further pressure, creating a direct conflict between processing capability and data sensitivity that cloud-dependent workflows couldn't resolve safely. And incorporating recycled and circular materials into a premium thermal and structural system had no established precedent at this performance tier.

  • A top-mounted keyboard and field-replaceable modular battery solved the serviceability problem without abandoning the premium ultra-thin form — swappable in under five minutes, no specialist tools required. Up to 85 TOPS of on-device AI processing runs transcription, translation, and meeting summaries entirely on the device, removing cloud dependency from sensitive professional workflows. TÜV-certified closed-loop copper and recycled automotive components set a new benchmark for circular material use at this performance tier, without weakening thermal integrity or structural quality. The brief itself was built from direct research with over 100 CIOs, meaning the priorities it solved were operational realities, not market assumptions.

  • By extending device lifecycle through modular serviceability, the EliteBook X G2 reduces total cost of ownership and IT overhead for enterprise fleets, making responsible design commercially compelling rather than a tradeoff. A circular material strategy using TÜV-certified closed-loop copper and recycled automotive components reduces virgin resource dependence at a performance tier where that has no prior precedent. On-device AI processing keeps sensitive professional data local, addressing growing privacy and data security concerns across the workforce. Together, these outcomes demonstrate that enterprise hardware can serve individuals, organizations, and the environment without asking any of them to compromise.

  • Sub-1 kg, 15.9 mm Chassis: At under a kilogram, the EliteBook X G2 travels without physical cost. The ultra-thin profile was engineered to carry full enterprise capability, not reduce it. 85 TOPS On-Device AI: Local AI processing handles real-time transcription, translation, meeting summaries, and intelligent assistance entirely on the device. Confidential conversations stay private; cloud latency doesn't interrupt the work. Five-Minute Battery Replacement: The modular battery and top-mounted keyboard access point let IT teams perform field replacements in under five minutes, shrinking spare device stockpiles and reducing maintenance downtime. HP Wolf Security + Quantum-Resilient Options: A layered security stack with optional Sure View privacy screen and quantum-resilient configurations, built for regulated industries where data exposure carries large consequences. 14-inch 120 Hz OLED Display: Sharp, high-refresh visuals for detail-intensive work, tuned for power efficiency to support longer productivity between charges. Waterfall Haptic Touchpad + 0.3 mm Key Dish: An expanded gesture surface and redesigned key depth reduce fatigue across long sessions — refinements that shift how the device feels to use, daily. Circular Material Strategy: Recycled magnesium, aluminum, ocean-bound plastic, recovered rare earth magnets, and TÜV-certified closed-loop copper reduce dependence on virgin resources with no visible compromise to build quality.
