The all-new second generation Audi A5 and S5 Coupe builds on the original’s stunning silhouette and steps forward into a bold new direction. Its predecessor was described by legendary Audi designer Walter de Silva, as the ‘the most beautiful car I’ve ever designed’ and this next generation A5 Coupe

Emboldened by dramatic lines and taut surfaces, the all-new second-generation A5 Coupe has an athletic and sculpted appearance, while maintaining the classic sports coupe proportions.

  • The body of the A5 and S5 Coupe has the appearance of an athlete - toned and taut. The three-dimensional Singleframe grille is wider and flatter, giving the new A5 an aggressive and sporty stance at the front-end. The bonnet encompasses two sculpted channels that highlight a central 'power dome' over the powerplant that lies beneath. A sharply drawn wave-like shoulder line begins at the front of the car and flows through the entire length of the side profile. The four wheel arches are emphasized equally, so as to underscore the legendary Audi quattro DNA. At the rear, sharp creases that form horizontal lines accentuate the impression of width, rounding off the A5's distinctive and sporty aesthetic.

  • The handling of the Audi A5 and S5 is powerful, yet comfortable. Powerful engines combined with adaptive suspension, and a lightweight body, make the A5 and S5 one of the most dynamic coupes on the road. It is up to 60kg lighter than its predecessor.Audi also has a reputation for setting standards when it comes to innovative operating concepts and ease behind the wheel, offering functions such as turn assist, park assist and the virtual cockpit - a TFT screen with a 12.3-inch high-resolution display that shows all essential information right in the driver's line of sight. The new MMI all-in-touch control unit with large touchpad is an intelligent way for the driver to input information and make selections. The voice control of the MMI navigation plus is also state-of-the-art. It understands countless formulations and allows dictation of text messages, aiding navigation commands and is also available in the Radio and Media menus.

  • A highlight is the graduated range of driver assistance systems. No production car currently offers more in this area of technology. The Audi A5 has been awarded the maximum 5-star ANCAP safety rating. The adaptive cruise control (ACC) with traffic jam assist maintains a specified distance between the new Audi A5 and S5 Coupe and the car ahead using a front camera and radar sensors. Traffic jam assist can also take over steering at speeds of up to 65km/h on well-developed roads when traffic is congested. Other driving assistance systems include lane assist to detect lane markings and the innovative turn assist, which at speeds between two and 10km/h monitors oncoming traffic when turning left. ACC stop-and-go with Audi pre-sense front detects and prevents collisions. In hazardous situations, the A5 and S5 Coupe brakes hard after a series of warnings (visual and acoustic signals). The system also tightens the seat belts at this point. The all-new Audi A5 Coupe also scores top marks for passive safety. In the interior, the adaptive occupant restraint system for the front seats offers superior protection. It adjusts the effect of the front airbags and the seat-belt force limiters to the seating position of the driver and front passenger, as well as to the type of frontal collision.

  • The A5 and S5 employs an intelligent use of lightweight materials, as well as innovative construction methods for maximum strength. The result is a new model that is up to 60kg lighter than its predecessor. The new 3.0 TFSI V6 engine is 14kg lighter than its predecessor, while the ground-breaking efficiency of the 2.0 TFSI with 140kW is the result of the engine's sophisticated dual injection, B-cycle combustion, advanced start-stop technology. This is all so Audi A5 and S5 Coupe drivers do not have to compromise on the inherently sporty driving experience.

The A5 and S5 Coupe line-up is improved by Audi's advanced quattro all-wheel drive system. The all-wheel drive arrangement employs the proven centre differential and standard front-to-rear torque split of 40:60 respectively. Up to 70 percent of the engine's torque can be directed to the front and up to 85 percent to the rear during particularly dynamic driving conditions. As an enhancement to the standard quattro driveline, it is also possible for the S5 model to option a sport differential on the rear axle that can apportion even more torque to the wheel with the most grip. This effectively 'points' the car towards the apex of a corner. This quattro system is the perfect partner for the newly developed five-link front and rear suspensions that features on all A5 and S5 models. It is further complemented by the standard adaptive dampers that can be adjusted for a more comfortable ride, focused dynamics and everything in between via the Audi drive select system.
