  • The housing landscape of NZ has seen an increasing demand for architecturally designed homes where new builds are more compact and versatile with efficient living spaces. The brief recognised the need for a minimal and timeless handpiece design that could be offered in a range of finishes. There was a lack of choice in the market for users to select and tailor their shower to their needs and one that complements a bathroom with a finish that feels premium and consistent across the range. The current market is saturated with budget plastic shower handpieces and limited options in both finish/styles.

  • The Tate Aerlux™ handpiece has been designed with form and function in mind. The handpiece is supplied with two different Aerlux™ jets for mains pressure to fulfil the shower experience of the user. Offering variety not only in the coloured PVD finishes but with its spray options as well. The Aerlux™ jets can be fitted during installation, used to take it from a firm feel or a soft feel by injecting air into the waterflow. Based on Felton's Oxijet innovation, the 'jet' draws in air, filling the water droplets with tiny bubbles creating a luxurious shower spray.

  • The quality of the material and the manufacturing process comes into play with a sustainable approach in choosing PVD over electroplating or electrophoresis. Creating minimal carbon footprint and longer lasting products for years to come. The Tate Aerlux™ Handpiece was designed so that it will stand the test of time resulting in less consumer waste.

  • The faceplate and handle cover are made from 304 stainless steel which offers excellent corrosion resistance and strength. The tensile strength of the material allowed us to reduce the thickness of the plate to keep the overall weight of the handpiece to a minimum while still offering a sense of quality when in hand. By applying the PVD process over the stainless steel we are able to offer a variety of colour finishes that are long lasting and more resilient to damage and aging than the other methods of finishing (electroplating, painting or electrophoresis). The handpiece also comes as a matching set within the Felton Tate collection as a slide shower, with the option of a wet rail or dry rail.
