  • The challenge was to design a collection that bridges the gap between designer sofas that look exceptional but lack comfort, and accessible sofas that prioritise function over form. Solari responds with a silhouette that feels confident yet gentle. Beyond aesthetics, the brief required rethinking material selection, internal construction, and proportions together. Each decision had to balance comfort, durability, and visual presence without compromise, making it a piece that works hard for its owners as well. The collection also needed to suit varied homes, routines, and ways of living while maintaining a distinct and recognisable design identity across its modular forms.

  • The Solari collection resolves the divide between high-end aesthetics and everyday function. Inspired by 1970s sculptural furniture and reinterpreted for contemporary living, each element was refined to balance presence with durability, and softness with structure. Extensive prototyping was key. The swivel armchair was engineered to appear as if floating while maintaining stability. Cushion proportions were tested to achieve the right balance of softness and support. Moulded foam enables a seamless tubular frame across modules. The result is a cohesive system that adapts to varied spaces and lifestyles, working hard for its owners without compromising comfort or visual clarity.

  • Solari reflects a new design maturity from Asia, shifting the narrative from production to original empathetic craftsmanship. Commercially, it bridges the gap between high-concept aesthetics and attainable, everyday practicality. By integrating spill-resistant materials and robust construction, the design removes the common frictions of home life, allowing the furniture to be lived in rather than just looked at. Environmentally, its modular design allows customers to add, remove, or reconfigure pieces as their needs evolve, directly slowing the cycle of disposal and promoting a more sustainable, permanent approach to furnishing.

  • Solari's design integrity lies in the precision of its details, where each element serves both form and function. The primary innovation is the moulded foam construction, which achieves a seamless tubular frame from armrest to backrest. This technical feat ensures that the modular units align perfectly across configurations, without visible breaks in the silhouette regardless of configuration. The swivel armchair was engineered to appear weightless while remaining structurally stable. Its internal mechanism is fully concealed to preserve the clean, uninterrupted silhouette, while precise weight calibration prevents tipping despite the minimal footprint. Cushion comfort was refined through extensive prototyping. A higher proportion of feather fill in the seat cushions strikes the right balance between softness and support, while lumbar backrest and cushions were weighted and tested to balance the firmness of the structured silhouette with a relaxed sense of ease. While the corner ruching appears effortless and organic, every pleat is governed by strict technical specifications regarding spacing and depth. This deliberate standardisation ensures that an artisanal, handcrafted character is preserved at scale. Finally, the tri-tone bouclé brings spill-resistance and textural depth, while inset legs create a floating silhouette, lending visual lightness to a generously proportioned form.
