  • Screen Australia’s previous website had become difficult to navigate, inaccessible for many users, and increasingly complex to manage, with over 4,000 pages and fragmented content structures. Users struggled to find critical information, particularly funding, often relying on external search engines. The challenge was to simplify a highly complex content ecosystem while meeting strict government accessibility standards, supporting diverse audiences, and aligning with a concurrent organisational rebrand. At the same time, inefficient internal workflows and multiple data integrations created operational challenges that needed to be resolved alongside the user experience.

  • The solution reimagines the website as a user-driven platform designed to reduce cognitive load and remove barriers to access. A streamlined information architecture, intuitive navigation and clear content pathways simplify complex information, enabling users to quickly understand and act.A dynamic Funding Finder allows users to explore opportunities through guided filters, while advanced search supports misspellings, partial matches and varied terminology. Weighted ranking and “Did you mean” suggestions ensure relevant results are surfaced quickly, accommodating real-world user behaviour and reducing reliance on prior knowledge.Accessibility was embedded from the outset, ensuring WCAG compliance across devices.

  • The redesigned platform significantly improves access to Screen Australia’s services, enabling faster discovery of funding, insights and content while reducing cognitive load for users.Accessibility has been dramatically improved, with indicative WCAG compliance increasing from 27% to 97%. Performance has also been optimised, achieving 100% scores across tested pages, with near-instant load times (LCP ~0.2s) and zero layout shift. These improvements reduce barriers to access, enabling users to confidently navigate and act. Internally, streamlined workflows improve efficiency and responsiveness, while the platform strengthens Screen Australia’s role as an accessible hub for the national screen industry.
