  • There were 3 key challenges in designing Samsung Pay: 1. Ease-of-use: make it more convenient and easier to use when compared to other mobile wallet apps. 2. Security: implement the highest levels of security to give users the greatest confidence to use the solution. 3. Feature rich: offer users a range of features in the MVP version which provide more value than the physical wallet, while also providing a framework for future expansion of the wallet as new services are added.

  • 1. Ease-of-use: Users simply swipe up to enter the app, scan their barcoded loyalty cards to capture points, then authenticate (iris scan, fingerprint, PIN) to pay. This can be done with one hand, while the other carries the shopping! 2. Security: Users must authenticate before paying; if users misplace their phone, they can suspend their cards remotely via the findmymobile website; the app resides in Samsung’s defence-grade security platform, Knox. 3. Features: users can see details of their last 10 transactions and can be sent replacement cards instantly without waiting for plastic cards to arrive by post.

  • Samsung Pay is helping Australians to embrace a cashless future. Its security features are giving users the confidence and peace of mind necessary to trial the app. The user-friendly nature of the app, and in particular its ability to house both payment and loyalty cards, means that, once trialed, users will likely continue to make payments monthly. The architecture of the app, which allows for the addition of tiles once new services are launched, means that the app can be easily built out to provide additional value to both users and solution partners.
