  • How do you take a car from the motor show floor to showrooms without diluting its essence? The name Precept was chosen as the concept was a manifesto, setting out Polestar's intent as the contemporary electric performance brand. Polestar 5 had to remain faithful to the concept first shown in 2020, while meeting exacting standards for sustainability, infotainment technology, driving performance, range, handling, and luxury.Developed by a team of designers, engineers, and test drivers with experience of world motorsport and high-end sports car development, Polestar 5 represented a design and engineering challenge unlike any other the brand had faced.

  • Under the skin, Polestar 5 rides on a new, bespoke hot-cured bonded aluminium platform. Using high-strength aluminium extrusions, pressings, and castings, the structure is lightweight, and affords the car with torsional rigidity higher than a two-seat supercar. Known as Polestar Performance Architecture, this platform enabled Polestar's engineers and designers to create a performance GT unlike any other. Bespoke solutions abound, from the compact double wishbone front suspension, to the virtual rear window technology. The former allows for the vehicle's impossibly low nose, the latter allows for a spacious rear cabin without compromising the dramatic roofline and low roof height.

  • Polestar 5 is the purest expression of Polestar's vision for design, technology, and sustainability. It is a guiding star for the industry and the perfect Polestar flagship.Polestar 5 consists of 13% recycled aluminium and 83% aluminium from smelters utilising renewable electricity, substantially lowering its CO2e footprint. Facilities producing Polestar 5, as well as battery cell modules and other key battery materials, operate on renewable electricity. Its 23.8 tCO2e cradle-to-gate carbon footprint is 14 tCO2e lower than it otherwise would be had those measures not been taken, demonstrating to the industry it's possible to build a statement vehicle more sustainably.

  • Polestar has created a bold GT with modern, minimalist surfacing free of unnecessary embellishment. Aviation was a primary inspiration, evidenced by taut surfacing stretched over an aerodynamic wing-like profile with Kamm-style tail.Polestar 5 rides on a bespoke hot-cured bonded aluminium platform. Using high-strength aluminium extrusions, pressings, and castings, the structure is lightweight, and delivers torsional rigidity higher than a two-seat supercar. The digital rear mirror allows for a low roofline without compromising rear space, by moving the rear header backwards. With the central armrest lowered, rear passengers can control the climate system, seat heating, ventilation, and massage. A 'foot garage' in the battery gives occupants extra foot space and a more natural seating position.Natural fibre materials are used throughout, showcased by Polestar signature weave developed with BComp in the front seatbacks. Completed with ampliTex for added strength, this bio-based alternative to carbon-fibre is up to 40% lighter than plastic and uses 50% less fossil fuel-based materials.Polestar 5 continues to use recycled materials, including Econyl, a recycled material made from fishing nets and other waste materials, for the carpets, recycled PET for the headlining, and a knitted second deco wrapping round the upper section of the doors.
