Oztent SV Max Tent

The challenge was to have a tent that sets up in 30 seconds, just like the Oztent 30 Second Tent, yet providing larger and more functional living area. It was important to increase the area under the tent awning by at least 35% and enable additional covered space to be easily attached. All these goals needed be implemented without making the packed-up size and weight unmanageable to the average camper. The concept of a trapezoidal footprint for the tent, its awning and all attachments, allows for these goals to be achieved. This meant a complete redesign of the tent’s frame.

The Original 30 Second Tent uses aluminium frame with a series of hinges, pivoting bracing arms, sliding bolts and 90o corner fittings to achieve its easy-up capabilities. The SV-5 MAX uses 100o corners, angled foot hinges and unique flexible sliding bolt washers. This results a trapezoidal tent footprint and sloping side walls. The front of the tent is now 3 metres wide and the awning is 3.5m wide at the front. The inclusion of a second zipper at the front of the tent awning allows for the connection of the Zip-in Tarp Extension to further expand the covered living area.

New frame structure means that the living area under the awning has been increased by more than 35%. When one attaches the Zip-in Tarp Extension, the total covered area outside the tent extends to over 18 square metres (that’s two 3x3 gazebos). The included Zip-in Tarp Extension easily attaches to the front of the awning by means of the innovative double zipper. Optional extras such as Side Walls and a Front Panel allow the area under the awning to be fully enclosed. The sloping walls of the SV-5 MAX result in a more stable and aerodynamic structure in high winds.

The SV-5 Max Tent uses seam-sealed 8oz Polycotton Canvas for the walls and roof and heat-sealed PVC Tub floor. In addition, the SV-5 Max Tent includes extra features such as a large Sky-Mesh Sky Light (excellent ventilation, easily closed); removeable Tent Fly (protection and comfort); multiple internal storage options (store everything from maps to your tablet); ‘light loops’’ (easily hang your LED light bars and strips); reflective Guy Ropes (some are attached, others are included in the peg/rope bag, but all have reflective threads to make them easier to see); all the Awning Poles that are required.
