We created an interim website for The National Communication Museum (NCM), a contemporary museum that showcases the evolution of communication technologies in Australia. By highlighting the impact of these technologies, NCM seeks to inspire visitors about their potential in shaping the future. The museum opens in Winter 2024.

  • We faced the challenge of creating an interim website to promote the opening of the museum. We had limited visual assets to work with beyond a few brand elements, including a logo marque, colour, and typeface. The absence of assets didn’t negate the need to make the website engaging and reflective of the museum’s theme of ”communication.” We created an interactive experience that mirrored what they would encounter when visiting the museum. By leveraging brand elements and focusing on interactivity, we created a website that promotes the museum’s opening and offers a glimpse of the experience that awaits future visitors.

  • While it’s true that we created an engaging and informative interim website that provides essential information as expected: opening date, location, building details, FAQs, etc., it’s the inclusion of a special interactive experience that adds innovation to the project. The experience begins by prompting users to enable their device’s microphone. The reward is access to a dynamically generative sound toy. Responsive to user input, it’s fun, immersive, and engages visitors in a unique online experience. An innovative menu system not only aids navigation but also provides visual feedback on the user’s scroll position, enhancing the overall user experience.

  • After the successful launch of the interim website, NCM received positive feedback from various stakeholders, including users, industry professionals, potential partners and excited visitors. This encouraging response has emboldened NCM to seek corporate sponsorships from leading organisations, establish collaborations with prestigious academic institutions, and focus on cultivating a growing and engaged audience through targeted marketing and community engagement efforts. In the background, we’re working with NCM to prepare meticulously for the official launch by designing a new website that will become NCM’s long-term digital home.
