Most existing thermostats enable the ability to monitor and control one factor in the home/office environment - Temperature. Despite several smart thermostats entering the market, many are limited in their ability to pair with intelligent HVAC systems, cannot talk to modern inverter reverse cycle systems, are mostly limited to very basic functionalities (i.e. On/Off). Two key insights have driven the development of the Milieu Climate® system - 1. Our indoor living environment is made up of more factors than just the temperature. 2. A clear need for a smart thermostat that would work by default with Australian standard 24HVAC systems enabling real intelligent monitoring + control, and could integrate with practically any other major HVAC system in the global market (Identified a need for adaptor kits). Milieu Climate® needed to integrate an array of sensors to enable true monitoring of the indoor environment: temperature, air quality, humidity, pressure, sound, light, motion + occupancy. Milieu Climate® also needed to enable true HVAC system control via a smartphone application. Milieu Climate® required a focus on usability, a small form factor that would house all sensors and would elevate the aesthetics of the category.

Milieu Climate® talks via Wi-Fi to the Smart Base giving you enhanced control over HVAC systems - the ability to design your home or office environment, reduce your overall energy consumption + save on bills. The Milieu Climate® app allows you to control the Milieu Climate® smart thermostat and design your ideal space at any time, from anywhere. You can manage multiple hubs, giving you control over multiple locations. Portable hubs can be grouped under properties, and you can even switch between hubs for added convenience.

Some users with HVAC systems utilise a 'set once and forget approach', without a smart system, users are required to go to the thermostat to make manual adjustments. Milieu uses a combination of temperature, occupancy, humidity, and motion sensors to help automatically adjust settings for optimal operation. The more efficient operation of home/office HVAC systems has the potential to lead to incredible energy savings and significantly reduce the home/office emissions over the course of just one year. Any ability to reduce the carbon impact of individual home/office HVAC systems will make a significant contribution. The Milieu Smart thermostat also shows you the air quality of a room - helping to monitor the health of the home, measure volatile organic compounds (VOCs), determine fresh air levels, and review real-time environment sensor readings via the Milieu Climate® app (provides equivalent CO2 readings).

Temperature: Simply place the portable Hub in the desired room to control its temperature and monitor its environment to design your ideal space. Sensors adjust to your routine to deliver the perfect level of heating or cooling: auto-adjusting temperature, auto-schedule, automatically switches off if no one's home. Air Quality: Monitor the air quality of a room - measure volatile organic compounds (VOCs), determine fresh air levels, and review real-time environment sensor readings via the app (provides equivalent CO2 readings). Humidity: Monitor humidity levels - If it's too high, Milieu will activate 'Dry Mode' to remove excess moisture from the environment. The system automatically optimises air conditioning settings to keep your home healthy by helping to reduce allergies. Pressure: A barometric sensor monitors the pressure level in your home to provide a glance to understand insight of the climate outside and upcoming weather changes. Track high pressure (indicating clear skies, dry and stable weather) and low pressure (indicating unstable weather like rain or storms). Sound: Identify if your environment is quiet enough for optimal relaxation and concentration. When you're out and about, identify unexpected loud noises via the app. Light: Identify the ideal lighting levels for your day-to-day activities with the in-built light sensor. If you have an existing home smart lighting set-up, identify if smart lights have been left on directly from the app. Motion: Improve the energy efficiency of your home HVAC system. Milieu detects if someone is in the room or not and automatically adjusts the temperature accordingly.
