Miele Scout RX2 Home Vision Robot Vacuum Cleaner

The first generation of Miele robot vacuum cleaners was launched in 2014 and was an immediate success. The next generation was to be “Immer Besser” (Forever better) in virtually every respect. A key objective was to further optimise the dust pick-up performance. This was to be achieved without compromising the generous running time or remarkable quietness, and without any notable increase in the product’s weight or dimensions. At the same time, Miele tasked its designers to find ways of making the Scout RX2 even more accurate and reliable in its navigation, and even easier to use than its predecessor.

The Miele Scout RX2 achieves a threefold increase in dust pick-up compared with previous models, whilst maintaining 120 minutes running time. It is now web-enabled and can be remotely controlled via an App. The Home Vision function can relay camera images live to a tablet or smartphone. This not only allows its owner to track where it is currently performing its duties, but also allows a remote view of the home to check if everything is o.k. at any time.

The Scout RX2’s outstanding suction performance on all types of flooring is the result of a newly developed 4-stage cleaning system. In the first stage, rotating brushes sweep dirt underneath the unit. Next, a beater bar brushes coarse debris into the wide suction aperture at the front, before a strong stream of air sucks in remaining fine dust through a second and narrower opening. The fourth stage comprises a brushless motor, which is characterised by high suction power, outstanding energy efficiency and excellent durability. 3D Smart Navigation consists of two front cameras which produce images in stereo. A total of ten infra-red sensors reliably protect against collisions with furniture and other objects, and also prevent the unit from tumbling down a flight of stairs. In addition, a gyro sensor measures rotations and enables reliable navigation even in complete darkness. While the Scout RX2 is navigating its way around the home, it is saving the coordinates of the areas already cleaned to a map. This allows checks at any given time on where the Scout RX2 is located and which areas have already been cleaned.
