  • With the introduction of this new product concept, Miele is responding to the increasing trend towards the full integration of cooker hoods into kitchen cabinetry, which is especially pronounced in high-end, open-plan living areas. Unlike other Miele cooker hoods, the DA 2690 EXT does not feature an on-board motor, but is designed for installation with a choice of three external Miele fan motors. One of the biggest benefits of removing the rangehood motor from the kitchen itself is the greatly reduced noise level during use. The matching Miele external fan motors are available for either installation on an external wall, or in an empty roof space / butler's pantry / garage, or on angled, tiled roofs.

  • The Miele DA 2690 EXT rangehood is suitable for cooktops up to 90 cm width and designed for installation into a 30 cm deep overhead cabinet, which will ensure that it will harmoniously blend in with any well made kitchen. Thanks to its smooth stainless steel base and removable, dishwasher-safe stainless steel filter panel, its visual appearance is timeless, elegant and very unobtrusive. Four integrated LED downlights provide generous illumination of the cooking area, whilst the electronic light-touch controls are self-explanatory and very easy to use.

  • The DA 2690 EXT will effortlessly remove all air impurities caused by the cooking process from the kitchen environment. The stainless steel filter panel effectively creates superior edge extraction, maximizing the air speed, which is particularly beneficial above induction cooktops. A programmable grease filter saturation indicator will remind the user when the stainless steel grease filter should be cleaned in a Miele dishwasher. Whilst the light-touch electronic controls are very intuitive to use, the unit also features Miele's unique Con@ctivity function, which automatically regulates the required operation of the cooker hood when used in combination with a compatible Miele induction cooktop.

  • The programmable grease filter saturation indicator is an important and the most visible safety feature, since it is designed to remind the user to maintain the filter in a clean condition before there is an excessive build-up of grease in the unit, which could otherwise ultimately become a potential fire hazard. The integrated CleanCover hood liner facilitates safe and convenient cleaning of the inside of the hood after removal of the filters, without the risk of inadvertently coming into contact with functional or electrical components. The unit also features an electronically controlled automatic safety switch-off, which is being activated after a maximum of 10 continuous operating hours.

Made by Miele in Germany, the hood itself, as well as the choice of three external fan motors is designed and tested for a useful product life of 20 years under normal household use. The fact that Miele products are used longer in the home than other brands before being resold or disposed of due to a defect was validated in a 2006 study performed by the German consumer research organization GfK: according to this study, new Miele appliances remained in use after their initial purchase for an average of 17.0 years, whilst the average useful life of other brands was only 13.7 years.

Given its superior technology and long life expectancy, the initial investment in this Miele rangehood does represent outstanding value for money in the long term. The fact that Miele now also offers the choice of three external fan motors on the Australian market will further increase the perceived value of the brand, as specifiers and consumers are increasingly looking for technologically advanced, single brand kitchen packages. In view of the fact that the concept of external fan motors has already proven its commercial viability on European markets several years ago, Miele is confident of achieving a positive return on the investment made locally.

The choice of 3 external fan motors, which are available for either installation on an external wall, or in an empty roof space / butler's pantry / garage, or on angled, tiled roofs ensures that Miele is able to offer the optimum specialist ventilation solution, to cater for the diverse range of architectural design requirements and building regulations. Miele's Con@ctivity feature, which automatically adjusts the required fan setting to ensure the optimum room climate, depending on the settings on the compatible Miele induction hob below, is a key USP which is not only convenient, but also prevents excessive energy use.
