  • The design challenge was to re-interpret the iconic, stereotypical design of a picnic table and develop a contemporary, all-embracing, functional and modern aesthetic that focuses on accessibility as a key design driver - To design a table that is inclusive, practical and incorporates modern needs, modern needs such as accessibility and connection.

  • Durability, practicality and inclusiveness is three key words that has informed the material and manufacturing process of the MASS table - The result being a table simplistic in form but with a high degree of structural engineering that provides easy accessibility to 8 users; including wheel chair accessibility, simultaneously. The MASS table (in it's interior iteration - Cafes, universities and commercial breakout areas) comes with the optional add-on of GPO outlets to ensure everyone can stay 'charged and connected' wherever they are.

  • The picnic table has not changed in its design principals since the 1920's - MASS table's design has produced a world first solution, a 100% fully accessible picnic table. MASS; refined, durable and inclusive, has an elegant visual appeal and hold's true to the emotional values of the orginal table-and-chair hybrid that we call a picnic table, an innovation that sees MASS become a new standard / reference for this design topology. The design suggests a variety of applications, from parks and gardens to new forms of collaborative work environments bringing relaxed feeling to interiors within the commercial and built environment sector.

  • The MASS table made a special debut at a local surf lifesaving club, an iconic symbol of Australian culture and community - The Currumbin Surf Life Saving Club. The club is home to the renowned swimming group "The Dingoes" a group of senior citizens that have convened at the beach since the 1970s. Each day, the Dingoes emerge from the swell and walk to the Currumbin Surf Club where they sprawl across tables, drink coffee and chat - No swim is complete without sitting together, laughing and drying in the sun. The MASS table embodies these ideals, built on the value that there is nothing more important than creating an inclusive space and finding our place at the table. Fostering this idea of connection further, The Mass table can incorporate power and USB charging options (currently only for interior projects), However we are currently working closely with our integrated power and data supplier's on a IP outdoor rated power solution for 2022.
