  • Customers buying wood heaters available at the budget end of the market are typically presented with a choice: an Australian made unit with a dated, plain design, or something a bit sharper and modern, but built overseas to a lower standard of quality. The brief for this project was to create a range of heaters that solve this dilemma – modern, eye catching designs with full glass doors to give the best possible view of the flames, paired with robust Australian made build quality – widely available across Australia at an affordable price.

  • The Bowden range shows Glen Dimplex’s ongoing commitment to Australian manufacturing. Each model has been designed from the ground up to streamline the fabrication procedure, increasing efficiencies at our Adelaide factory – enabling us to offer Bowden for an affordable price. All three models share the same heart – the steel firebox. Consequently, each model offers identical performance – simply choose the style you prefer. Bowden is thoroughly modern, with a full glass door framed in piano black giving an engaging view of the crackling fire, an elegantly perforated top plate helping heat vent into the room, and a convenient three speed fan.

  • Bowden 500 makes good design and Australian made build quality accessible to a wide range of customers who previously had to choose one or the other. Customers searching for a modern, eye catching wood heater need no longer settle for a lower quality product manufactured overseas, and customers who want a wood heater designed and made in Australia to suit Australian conditions need no longer settle for a plain and dated design. Bowden also comes in three styles to suit each customer – a traditional pedestal base, a practical stacker base with storage space for firewood, and a modern leg base.

  • All Bowden 500 models are fan-forced convection-style wood heaters. They are shielded on all sides to reduce direct radiant heat and enable more flexibility when installing the heater, and feature 3-speed fans that help circulate air past the firebox to heat your house more effectively. The fan is controlled by a switch located on the right hand side of each heater. These features help make the most of the Bowden’s hearty 9.2kw output – a figure it achieves while also being 33% cleaner burning than the Australian Standard, and 7% more efficient. Bowden 500 was fully tested for emissions and efficiency and complies with Australian Standards AS/NZS 4012:2014 and AS/NZS 4013:2014. Safe installation clearances were tested and determined by testing in accordance with Australian Standard AS/NZS 2918. The heat output of the units can be modulated with the air slide control on the top right of the unit, allowing the user to adjust the amount of heat produced, and also the burn time of the heater. The Bowden Woodstacker model features a handy storage area for firewood below the firebox.
