MAISON de SABRÉ SABREMOJI™ Charms: Zero-Waste Playful Luxury

The SABREMOJI™ Charms program was born out of the challenge to solve the problem of materials waste within the leather accessories production process. The design team sought an innovative way to blend the brand’s luxury craftsmanship with circular production, to deliver a covetable product line that would sit at the intersection of sustainability, and desirability. Their commitment to sustainably solve this problem needed to result in a platform rather than simply a one-off product idea. The platform would need to offer longevity as a means to deliver regular newness, culturally-relevant collaborations, fashion, functionality and accessibility.

The innovative system by which SABREMOJI™ Charms are designed and developed is entirely zero-waste, upcycling the residual and off-cut leathers from the production of the larger bags and accessories. The charms are the most intricate of all MAISON de SABRE products, requiring the highest attention to design and production detail. Each charm is a hand-crafted work of art, offering unexpected functionality with tech integration seamlessly housing the Apple AirTag so the item it is attached to is never lost. SABREMOJI™ Charms uniquely combine luxury craftsmanship, sustainability and price accessibility, and serve as a unique platform for dynamic collaborations.

SABREMOJI™ Charms sit at the intersection of sustainability and desirability through the entirely zero-waste production process and unique, innovative platform it provides for exciting newness. It has transformed a by-product into a globally coveted product line that has made sustainability playful and cared about. There are now over 150,000 owners of SABREMOJI™ upcycled charms across the globe, with a highly-engaged community network that spills over Instagram and Reddit forums.

The SABREMOJI™ Charms bring sustainability, playful design and tech integration into an item no larger than 3.5cm in diameter. Sustainability starts with the leather used across the entire production process of MAISON de SABRÉ – every single piece is crafted with DriTan technology. This is a revolutionary process that saves up to 20L of freshwater per hide, equating to 25 million litres per year, in addition to using 33% less tanning ingredients and stopping over 600 tons of sludge from entering landfill each year. The offcuts of this leather are then gathered and strategically cut to create SABREMOJI™ charms. Each charm is a showcase of extreme detail and craftsmanship, using a variety of leather techniques such as embroidery, bombé, inlay, and onlay to create the most intricate product that customers cannot get enough of. Each charm is finished with a functioning brass zipper that opens to house an Apple AirTag.
