  • The global honey industry faces two critical pressures: labour-intensive extraction processes and widespread honey fraud that undermines consumer trust. Traditional harvesting relies on costly equipment, significant space and manual, time-consuming steps, creating barriers to entry for small-scale producers and increasing the risk of contamination and adulteration.HiveKeepers set out to address this by making honey harvesting simple, clean and transparent. Key design challenges included replicating bee-friendly comb geometry, ensuring compatibility with existing hives, eliminating the need for filtering and enabling traceable, micro-batch harvesting without specialised tools or industrial infrastructure.

  • The Micro Honey Harvester, modular cassettes and frames transform a once messy, labour intensive process into a clean, intuitive experience. The system features re-useable cassettes that snap neatly into frames that are compatible with all standard hive systems. Once filled with honey, each cassette can be placed into the portable, re-chargeable battery powered Micro Honey Harvester, where honey is then extracted in under 30 seconds with one press of a button. A clear bowl allows users to watch fresh honey spin out of the cassettes, directly connecting the users to the harvesting process.

  • HiveKeepers unlocks new potential across the honey supply chain, reducing capital and operational costs while enabling producers to create premium, traceable honey with minimal effort. Consumers can harvest ethically anywhere, anytime without owning a beehive. It eliminates extractors, filters, and stainless-steel tanks, cutting waste and energy use. Most importantly, it combats honey adulteration by strengthening transparency and provenance through direct-from-hive harvests. From hobbyists to artisan brands, HiveKeepers adds value at the point of harvest and redefines purity in modern food systems.

  • Every touchpoint of the HiveKeepers system is grounded in user research and bee biology. Designed for outdoor use with restrictive bee suits and gloves, components are intuitive to handle and operate. Frames align with standard hive spacing to maintain bee ecology and ensure compatibility with existing beekeeping equipment.Cassettes are designed for secure yet effortless handling, snapping into frames for installation while remaining stable during transport between hive sites. A dedicated grip detail along the frame’s top edge improves control, an enhancement not found in traditional timber or plastic frames.Appliance-inspired interactions create a familiar experience. A single button interface is supported by clear LED indicators, while a bayonet locking system securely connects the bowl to the base. An integrated carry handle enables safe, balanced transport of the product, supporting mobility between hive locations. Key components, including cassettes, bowl and central jig, are dishwasher safe for efficient cleaning. The bowl design supports extraction of up to two frames simultaneously, with a central column enabling smooth cassette rotation. A top handle, base cut-out, and integrated volume markings improve control and accuracy, while the contoured form minimises waste during pouring.
