  • Over two decades DEQX has refined our proprietary Digital Signal Processing algorithm. This system measures and restores timing-coherence and volume accuracy to all frequencies, essential for audio realism. Recently, computer components have evolved to provide additional processing power and capabilities, enabling digital systems to outperform analogue. To provide additional functionality, a more intuitive interface, and take advantage of the unlimited power available, the measurement and analysis tools have also been migrated to the DEQX-Cloud. A high-end chassis design was required, in keeping with the Pre-8’s unique features and hi-end reputation, whilst meeting the aesthetic demands of the audiophile market.

  • The Pre-8 was designed as the ultimate expression of audiophile aspirations, and to re-launch our brand, after a 4-year hiatus resulting from Covid supply issues. The Pre-8 is designed to compete with market leaders by providing the highest-end Preamplifier, Internet streaming and room correction features and, in addition, providing DEQX’s unique loudspeaker and room calibration capabilities. This required a four-year electronics design program by one of Australia’s leading electrics designers, Dean Cooper of Syntology, and a team of four software developers. Sonic results have exceeded expectations. Retired head designer of legendary JBL loudspeakers declaring Pre-8’s sonics as ”mind blowing”.

  • The Pre-8 is the flagship ’Gen-4’ product. Since release in March, it has been sold to early adopters and existing dealers via a direct sales program. Agreements are now being negotiated with new distributors and dealers. A further 8 models are projected in coming years that will be targeted to meet the needs of all consumer and professional audio markets and priced accordingly. One of DEQX’s early adopters of a prior model was Abbey Road Studios in London, who used it to solve their room acoustics for surround mastering. Over 95% of DEQX products are exported.

  • DEQX founder Kim Ryrie has pioneered new digital audio processes through two Fairlight Instruments companies co-founded in the 70’s and late 80’s. Fairlight is now part of Black Magic Inc, Melbourne. This industry background has enabled DEQX to access great designers and an influential user base. The user base evaluates and helps promote the concept of ’speaker calibration’ as an essential tool to allow realistic HD-Audio and has helped DEQX create a reputation for producing the ultimate audio product. With the goal of much cheaper HD-Audio realism in the future, DEQX has developed a new IC (chip) design that will cost under $10 per speaker for volume use by OEMs, allowing DEQX calibration technology to be integrated into loudspeaker ’systems’ during manufacture, rather than ’after-market’ products such as Pre-8. This has the potential to allow lifestyle audio systems for many manufacturers to provide improved audio clarity at minimal cost. The system re-design included developing cloud-based software to interact with the user’s system in real time, and to take full advantage of the “Internet of Things” architecture. This proceeded in tandem with the hardware redesign – the result is an ecosystem that is infinitely expandable and leverageable for all future developments.
