Take-away cups make drinking quality tea and coffee convenient, but this comes at an environmental and financial cost. The challenge was to create something grounding, beautiful, engineered and functional that would provide exceptional taste and convenience to become a daily ritual good for the user and the planet. Home brewing products often leave users unfulfilled craving that store bought coffee. Loose leaf tea is messy and not made for a busy morning routine. The GROUNDD xpress aims to create a restorative ritual that gives exceptional taste, personalised for you in a cup that you can clean up later.

GROUNDD comprises of a brew stop piston with incorporated valves that pauses the brew process separating brewing from drinking. The quick release shaft allows the user to customize the brew the way they like it with milk or sweetener. The user can also drink directly from the glass or reconnect the 360 degree anti spill lid and drink on the run. The brewing and drinking happens in the same glass allowing the user to enjoy their routine without worrying about cleaning up. It was critical for the product to be repairable and made from materials that would not leach microplastics.

We wanted to create something that would become a restorative ritual where each time it was used it would be one less tea bag or take a way cup in landfill. The materials are premium and were selected based on processing footprint, longevity, health impact and function. Your morning ritual (or any time you enjoy a coffee or tea) should be a time to relax, reflect and restore your soul to keep you grounded. We wanted people to take this time, hold something warm and restore themselves without the planet having to pay the price.
