  • MORE
  • Around 373 million plastic water bottles end up as waste each year in Australia and of all the plastic bottles that are placed into recycling, only 36% of them are actually recycled. The rest end up in landfill, spill into waterways and leak harmful chemicals into our environment as they decompose, which causes a number of environmental and health issues. To help solve this problem, we wanted to make the experience of using cling film more of a moment and use it as an opportunity to raise awareness around petroleum based plastics.

  • In 2021, 1.3 billion plastic bottles were used each day. The Great Mate helps solve this problem by looking at other ways to use ocean-bound plastic and give it a more meaningful life rather than ending up in landfill. Currently we don't have the technology to infinitely recycle plastics, that's why we've given the Great Mate a lifetime warranty. Great Wrap, is already providing a solution to petroleum based plastic with our compostable stretch wrap, and now we’ve designed Great Mate to provide a solution for single use plastic that’s already in our environment.

  • Great Mate will generate conversations that will inspire behavioural change around food and plastic waste in our homes. We thought, if we're putting all of this work into reinventing the materials why can't the dispensing experience be totally new too. Every home has a kitchen and this is often where behaviour changing conversations start. The Great Mate is designed to be stored vertically and treated as a ‘talking stick’ around the future of the planet we want to live in.

  • The dispenser will be offered in the colours, pea, pebble, sandy, and lila (opaque). We will be launching to the public on 1st of July.
