Switch Lid addresses the need for a simple, easy to use, robust, hygienic lid. It combines two distinctly different hydration delivery systems into one lid to avoid multiple bottles with different delivery orientations. Most of the sipper bottles have a very hard to clean construction and most bottles with many parts tend to leak or break when dropped from a meter’s height. The Switch Lid needed to meet the need for a interchangeable lid for the frank green reusable water bottle ecosystem - designed to fit all frank green water bottles without compromising on the distinctive frank green design style.

Users can switch between straw sipping mode and chugging mode by a simple twist to the spout. This is then covered with a lockable cap protecting the mouthpiece and sealing the bottle from leaks. Having a seal that rotated and yet sealed in all conditions was necessary for this design. The mechanism allows the straw to pop up on demand and not hinder the hydration experience. This mechanism also had to be designed in a way so that the lid looks like other frank green lids when closed in 2D silhouette and fit all other frank green reusable bottles.

The different delivery systems means users can meet their needs over a day from the planned (working at a desk) to the spontaneous (pouring water in a pet bowl). The versatility of one lid reduces the environmental impact of buying multiple bottles for different hydration systems. Hygiene and optimum hydration is top of mind for modern consumers. The Switch Lid design means the spout and straw are fully covered and protected. Every part of the Switch Lid can easily be removed and cleaned while the bottle can be refilled without removing the lid.

The Switch Lid is patented and design registered and reinforces the frank green design strategy of customisation and versatility within the frank green ecosystem. The Switch lid is designed for easy disassembly. The lid can be fully dismantled and is recyclable so in case the bottle needs to be disposed of, every part can be separated and deposited in the recycle bin. The over cap can also be double locked to avoid the lid accidentally opening in a bag or when dropped.
