  • The Dishpod was designed to combat the global plastic crisis and eliminate harmful chemicals in dishwashing. Single-use plastic waste, much of it from household products, contributes to environmental disasters like the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Meanwhile, traditional liquid dish soaps contain phosphates and petrochemicals that pollute waterways, harm aquatic life, disrupt septic systems, and damage ecosystems. Our challenge was to create a truly sustainable hand dishwashing system—crafting a high-performance, water-safe detergent bar and engineering a durable, reusable dispenser that is easy to use, highly effective, and beautifully designed to encourage adoption on kitchen benchtops, replacing plastic bottles for good.

  • Dishpod redefines hand dishwashing by pairing a plant-based detergent bar with a reusable, durable capsule—designed for indefinite use with Dishpod refill bars. The clip-in lid features a precision-engineered grill that reduces splashing while ensuring optimal water exposure to prolong the bar’s life. The bar remains elevated between washes for longevity and to maximise surface area exposure. A matching drip tray, with a subtle Japanese-inspired lip, serves as a visual cue to pour out collected water for reuse. Ergonomically designed for a comfortable grip, the Dishpod balances function, durability, and beauty, encouraging adoption as a sleek, sustainable alternative to plastic bottles.

  • Dishpod significantly reduces single-use plastic waste, preventing plastic bottles from ending up in landfills and oceans. Each Dishpod dispenser is made from post-consumer recycled plastic, removing one plastic bottle from the waste stream, while every refill bar replaces up to three plastic bottles. The compact, solid bars also cut shipping costs and carbon emissions compared to liquid dish soap, which can contain up to 90% water. The plant-based detergent bar is water-safe, ensuring wastewater does not harm aquatic ecosystems. With a scalable, injection-moulded design and a refillable, user-friendly system, Dishpod makes sustainable dishwashing practical and commercially viable for everyday households.
