  • The modern shared kitchen environment demands both hygiene and efficient interaction for users. The challenge for XT Motion was to unify these opposing modes within a single, intuitive interface while safely delivering boiling, chilled and sparkling water. This required resolving complex technical, ergonomic and safety constraints, ensuring precise control, preventing accidental activation, and maintaining a refined, minimal form. The result needed to feel effortless in everyday use, while managing the inherent risks and complexities of multifunction water systems.

  • Billi partnered with APT Hosico, Bayly, and Xentronics to develop XT Motion through a rigorous 3-year development process involving extensive prototyping and iterative refinement. The design centred on a unified interaction system that integrates touch and touchless control without compromising safety or usability. Multiple design iterations explored different sensor technologies for human presence, mechanical feedback, and user ergonomics, ensuring intuitive operation across all water functions. User testing informed key decisions around interface clarity and interaction flow, particularly for safe dispensing of boiling water. The final solution delivers a refined, cohesive product balancing functionality with simplicity, reliability, and ease of use.

  • XT Motion redefines how users access water. By integrating touch and touchless control into a single, intuitive interface, it improves hygiene, usability, and safety in everyday kitchen environments. Commercially, it strengthens Billi’s position in the premium kitchen category, supporting design-led specification and retail channels. At a category level, XT Motion advances tapware beyond traditional single-mode interaction, establishing a new benchmark for integrated, user-centric water systems. The product represents a new standard for tapware across offices, schools, hospitals, airports, and other environments where both hygiene and usability are front-of-mind.

  • XT Motion combines advanced engineering with refined industrial design to deliver a first-of-kind dispenser experience. Designed to simplify interaction while managing complex functionality, key features include: Dual interaction system: Seamlessly integrates touch and touchless control, allowing users to switch intuitively between manual precision and hygienic, hands-free operation. Multifunction water delivery: Provides filtered boiling, chilled and sparkling water through a cohesive interface, reducing visual and operational complexity in the kitchen. Intuitive user interface: Carefully designed control logic and feedback ensure clear, predictable operation across all functions, minimising user error and learning curve. In-built smarts ensure no conflicts, accidental touches, or incidental activations from water droplets disrupts the user. Enhanced safety architecture: Engineered to safely manage boiling water through controlled activation, fail-safe mechanisms, and user-focused interaction design. Refined ergonomic form: A considered physical design that supports natural interaction, balancing mechanical feedback with sensor responsiveness. Premium construction and durability: Built with high-quality materials and manufacturing processes to ensure long-term reliability in demanding kitchen environments. Developed through extensive prototyping and user testing, XT Motion delivers a highly resolved product that integrates performance, safety and usability into a single, elegant system.
