ASKO Craft Frame Built-in Oven Series

The challenge was to evolve ASKO’s Craft oven range into a new generation of cooking performance, craftsmanship and usability while preserving the defining metal frame that gives the series its architectural identity. Steam, microwave and conventional cooking functions needed to be integrated into a single appliance without increasing complexity or compromising ease of use. At the same time, common friction points within the category, such as hot steam venting toward the user when opening the door, needed to be resolved thoughtfully. The task was to deliver advanced functionality through a clear, intuitive experience aligned with ASKO’s Scandinavian design approach.

The solution is guided by a principle of reduction, simplifying form and interaction while maintaining full cooking capability. At its centre is a one-piece metal frame integrating the oven door and control panel into a seamless architectural form within kitchen cabinetry. A hybrid interface combining touchscreen and tactile jog dial balances digital clarity with intuitive physical control, creating a stronger sense of precision and usability. Functional innovations include a steam reduction system that improves comfort when opening the door, precise temperature control and adaptable LED lighting. Together. these elements create a refined and cohesive cooking experience across different kitchen environments.

The design improves everyday cooking by making advanced functionality feel intuitive and accessible. By combining steam, microwave and conventional cooking within a single appliance, it reduces the need for additional devices, saving space and simplifying the kitchen experience.
