The Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) Remote Speaker Microphone (RSM) enables users to communicate clearly via two-way radio in harsh environments such as oil refineries, fire incidents, and other hazardous locations.
Researchers and Designers paid close attention to the tasks, conditions, and environments experienced by Fire Service, Petroleum, and other hazardous location workers. Their findings and insights were developed into solutions improving worker safety, convenience, and communication. These solutions resulted in the improved and redefined user experience offered by the Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) Remote Speaker Microphone. This device is a companion product to the MTP8000ex Series two-way radio also submitted in this competition.
Exaggerated controls, including traditional side push-to-talk and large front push-to-talk buttons, allow ease of use even while wearing protective gear. The rugged housing includes emergency and volume controls that are large for quick access but protected to avoid accidental activation. The device is compatible with various firefighter breathing solutions to allow communication in all conditions.
The ANC Remote Speaker Microphone has been carefully engineered to address workers' needs and offer the ultimate in safe, reliable and efficient communications in hazardous or explosion prone environments. The device meets stringent ATEX standards to assure safety for end-users who work in areas with potentially explosive gases, chemical vapors, flammable liquids, or combustible dust.
Active noise cancellation technology on the ANC RSM ensures the users voice, not surrounding noise, transmits clearly. The speaker has also been designed to let users hear above surrounding noise, which can be difficult in harsh environments.
A Windporting feature reduces the adverse effect of wind noise and provides intelligible audio for users working under windy conditions. This is especially beneficial for workers in oil refineries frequently located near windy sea conditions.
Firefighters often experience water-clogged microphones or speaker grills that prevent communication from getting through. A unique porting design, ensures fast drainage to allow clear audio so users can focus on critical tasks.
