Active Mask

The Covid 19 global pandemic has changed our lives forever, making face masks ubiquitous across the globe. The use of disposable, single use masks on such a massive scale is having a detrimental impact on our environment. Active Mask needed to be positioned as more sustainable than single use masks and more effective than washable cloth masks. To succeed, it had to be functionally foolproof, comfortable for long term use, safe, effective and have a contemporary aesthetic. It also had to be developed fast to meet a frantic demand, but remain customisable to meet corporate focused use requirements.

Active Mask is moulded in super flexible, medical grade silicone in a compliant profile that smoothly seals on the wearer's face to prevent contaminated air from sneaking in, providing optimal protection and comfort whilst being easily cleaned and sterilised for re-use. Boasting filtered 1-way air intake valves and a central exhale valve, the air flow is highly controlled but not constrained. Custom designed filters use a sandwich of activated carbon cloth and woollen fibre to clean bacteria and dust from the air without obstructing flow. The customisable front cover enables Active Mask to have an organisation specific appearance.

Active Mask's design led solution is providing a safer environment for front line workers, corporations and Government institutions, creating an immediate and long lasting social impact. The improved UX and contemporary appearance increase user compliance. Commercially, the product has been developed in Australia for Australian needs. Although initial production has been completed offshore to ensure speed to market, plans are already underway to shift future manufacturing to Victoria to boost local economies. The key premise of Active Mask is reliable, safe, lifetime re-use. This fact alone will prevent countless disposable masks from entering landfill, providing a positive environmental impact.

Active Mask represents the culmination of significant UX research by the Active Mask team. The feature set, functionality and aesthetics have been carefully coordinated to provide a targeted solution for high volume customers. Key features include:- - Optically clear, medical grade silicone mask with contouring face profile for improved comfort and sealing during prolonged use. - Multi-valve (2 inhale, 1 exhale) replaceable filter system that utilises activated carbon and wool derived P2/N95 filters to optimise air quality and flow. All filters are removable for cleaning, sterilisation and replacement. - A customisable front cover enables the base model to be printed in corporate livery or for the user to swap out different designs. This is crucial to targeting large volume customers. - An interchangeable face shield accessory called Active Shield, specifically designed to upgrade the standard mask with extra flying projectile protection for first responders. It's lightweight design and unique fitment to the Active Mask body allows the Shield to sit in front of the face without touching it. - A dedicated carry case has been developed to protect Active Mask when it is not worn. The belt mounted hard shell case is easily accessible with 1 hand for rapid implementation of the mask.
