REBORN by HoMie transforms garments destined for landfill into desirable one-off pieces, raising money for charity and saving them from landfill. Pre-loved, or unsold garments are hand-cut, sewn, and altered in Melbourne, creating unique pieces that encourage a radical rethinking of the industry.

  • MORE
  • HoMie is addressing the need to reduce textile waste while creating social impact. The fashion industry is the second largest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions in the world - behind only oil and gas. Excess stock often ends up in landfill, where it takes hundreds, often thousands, of years to break down - generating methane and leaching chemicals into soil and groundwater.

  • Our solution, to upcycle deadstock garments into new pieces, takes textiles out of landfill, stimulates local manufacturing industry and lessens the reliance on new materials. 100% of profits from REBORN also supports our mission to provide employment and training opportunities for young people affected by homelessness.

  • HoMie is bridging the gap between mainstream fashion and the circular economy - keeping existing garments in production, lessening the need for costly and time consuming textile recycling programs and facilities. To date, we’ve saved over 4400 garments and over 3400 kilograms of textile waste, partnering with brands including Country Road, Champion, Mambo, Clothing the Gaps, and Nobody Denim. Customers are able to continue shopping their favourite brands, getting something new and exciting, while knowing they’re making a genuinely sustainable choice.

  • REBORN by HoMie is a line created by HoMie, a Melbourne-based streetwear clothing brand and social enterprise that uses 100% of our profits towards achieving our mission in supporting young people affected by homelessness or hardship to equip them with the skills, confidence and experiences to be more work-ready and better prepared for their future. HoMie runs four impact programs that support young people affected by homelessness or hardship. VIP Days, where its store is closed to the public for young people to shop for free; the HoMie Pathway Alliance, an eight-month-long education and employment traineeship; Retail Ready, a 10-week-long employment program; and HoMie Alumni, where graduates from its employment programs can receive ongoing connection and support. With all profits from REBORN going towards these social impact programs, as REBORN scales so too will its impact on the community.
