  • As designers, we sought to create a warmer that sparks joy in leisure for travelers, seniors, and diverse users, reflecting cultural narratives. The challenge was to design a wire-free, multi-form piece—intuitive for all, especially tech-averse elders—while embedding sustainability. Traditional warmers felt isolating and wasteful, lacking connection. Our brief called for a design that unites generations for outdoor experiences, knitting Australian heritage and global stories into every stitch. Through empathetic exploration, we addressed technophobia, accessibility, and eco-constraints, crafting a companion that feels like home across cultures, from bush trails to urban escapes.

  • We envisioned a 4-in-1 WarmerBlanket Cushion that fosters connection, offering patterns like Aboriginal dot painting—born from immersion in Australia’s cultural stories—and geometric home tiles to reflect diverse user vibes. Knitted with silver-coated conductive yarns for wire-free warmth, it transitions between forms, shaped by user insights. Snap straps secure the blanket, while multi-hole straps attach the neck pillow to chairs. Recycled PET yarns wove sustainability into its core, reflecting iterative design thinking. This solution invites families to share warmth in travel, harmonizing heritage and innovation to create a leisure piece that feels deeply human and globally resonant.

  • This 4-in-1 WarmerBlanket Cushion fosters new leisure memories for families, from seniors to kids, warming joints while nurturing belonging through shared journeys. Patterns like Aboriginal dot painting and geometric tiles resonate with diverse users, deepening emotional ties. Environmentally, the design process prioritizes recycled PET yarns and 3D knitting to minimize waste, with a low-energy bank reducing emissions. Societally, it empowers wheelchair users to explore, warming legs and hands without snagging wheels. Culturally, it honors Australian and global heritage. As a beacon of thoughtful creativity, it encourages designers to prioritize human connection and planetary care, envisioning a future of meaningful impact.

  • This 4-in-1 WarmerBlanket Cushion tells a story through its knitted panels—options include Aboriginal dot painting, inspired by immersion in Australia’s cultural stories, and geometric home tile patterns to reflect diverse user vibes. Silver-coated conductive yarns knit wire-free warmth in 30 seconds, easing joint tension for travelers and seniors. Its four forms—neck pillow, seatbelt pad, cushion, blanket—unfold with thoughtful details: snap straps secure the blanket in place, while multi-hole straps fasten the neck pillow to chairs, ensuring comfort for travelers. For wheelchair users, blanket ends won’t snag in wheels, warming legs and hands in chilled weather. Hand-warming pockets double as a lap warmer, addressing seniors’ needs. USB-powered (5V2A) with a low-energy bank, it integrates sustainability through recycled PET yarns. The 3D knitting process minimizes waste, while washable fabrics ensure hygiene. Adjustable heating optimizes energy efficiency, avoiding the risks of hot water bottles or disposable heat packs. Safety tests confirm overheating protection, meeting global standards. Collaborations with studios in Singapore and South Korea are underway, exploring new patterns for global users. This design blends ergonomic support with cultural depth, inviting all ages to share outdoor moments, knitting heritage, innovation, and care to reimagine leisure.
