Commissioned by National Australia Bank for its new global headquarters in Melbourne, the 3000 Collection is the result of close collaboration between NAB, architect Woods Bagot, manufacturer Zenith and designers Marc Schamburg + Michael Alvisse.

When invited to bid for NAB’s collaborative furniture tender, Alvisse asked Woods Bagot, one of the world’s top 10 workplace designers, why they were inviting his small Australian design studio to bid for this coveted project? It was no secret that global furniture giants Herman Miller, Steelcase + Unifor were competing aggressively for this lucrative tender!

Woods Bagot replied that NAB needed tech-smart collaborative furniture that simply did not exist globally.

  • 3000's split crystalline geometry references NAB's logo and the ancient bedrock fissures beneath the building's site, remnants of Melbourne's ancient volcanic landscape.

  • Uncommonly in furniture design, 3000 embodies a specific place, a specific geological history and an international minimalist sensibility.

  • 3000 actively animates people to work together collaboratively, with teams squeezing together somewhat more closely than ever intended! Perhaps all part of the energising team work needed to succeed in today's hyper-competitive global knowledge economy?

  • Complies with AS/NZS 4688's ergonomic guidelines and has been successfully subject to rigorous testing by NAB focus groups + ergonomists.
