Dr Amin Heidarpour is a Professor of Structural Engineering and Director of Enterprise and Engagement in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Monash University, Australia. A Fellow of Engineers Australia (EA) and Chartered Engineer, he has held leadership roles including Vice-Chair of the EA Structural College (Victoria), and has served as chair or member of multiple Standards Australia committees. He is also a judge for major awards, including Vice-Chancellor’s Awards, EA Excellence Awards, and the Good Design Awards.
An internationally recognised innovator, his team received “Best in Class” and “Gold Winner” accolades in Engineering Design at the 2025 Good Design Awards for developing a more sustainable high-strength steel reinforcing bar, as well as the 2023 “Innovation of the Year” award from Constructsteel (World Steel Association) and a 2023 Good Design “Gold Winner” award for pioneering world-leading sustainable structural supports.
He has authored over 140 high-quality publications and secured more than $6 million in research funding from government and industry. His commercialised patents translate fundamental research into impactful, real-world solutions with significant social, economic, and environmental benefits.
