Dr Amin Heidarpour is an Associate Professor of Structural Engineering, and the Director of Enterprise and Engagement in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Monash University in Australia, a Fellow of Engineers Australia (EA), and a Chartered Engineer. He is also the Vice-Chair of EA Structural College in Victoria, and the chairman or member of several committees of Standards Australia. He has been a judge for major awards including Vice-Chancellor’s awards, EA Excellence Awards, and Good Design Awards. His team is the recipient of the “Innovation of the Year” international award given by Constructsteel of the World Steel Association in 2023, and “Gold Winner Accolade” in the Engineering Design category at the 2023 Good Design Awards, for inventing the world-leading sustainable structural supports. Dr Heidarpour has published over 140 high-quality scientific papers and been successful to attract over $5.5M from the Australian Government and industry to research on resilient structural components. His commercialised patents have enabled transforming fundamental research to tangible products with significant social, economic, and environmental benefits.
