CONCEPT DESIGN JUROR

For Alexandra French, good design is a practice of attention. As Product Design Manager at ABI Interiors, she leads the design team behind the company’s premium tapware, bathroom hardware and architectural fittings, products designed to sit quietly within the rituals of the home and earn their place there over years, not seasons.

An industrial designer with more than a decade’s experience, Alex has worked across consumer, medical, agricultural and technology products, homewares and the built environment, moving easily between sectors and scales. She approaches each brief as a question rather than an answer, drawing on first-principles thinking and a craftsperson’s eye for material, weight and finish.

She is a vocal advocate for human-centred and inclusive design. Her teams build deliberately: testing in the hand, refining in the workshop, shipping only when the object has something honest to say for itself. At ABI, she partners closely with design for manufacture and brand teams to translate that discipline into objects that feel inevitable.

A previous Australian Good Design Award recipient, Alex now joins the 2026 programme as a Concept Design juror, where she looks forward to championing work that takes design seriously as a tool for shaping the everyday.
