  • The challenge was to design a quantum computer that: - Integrates seamlessly into standard data centers, a critical step for real-world adoption. This meant it needed to be a modular form factor, scalable and serviceable.. - Provided extreme stability, precise laser alignment, and advanced cooling. - Visually inspiring to match expectations about the wonders of quantum computing. It needed to make a statement.

  • The solution is a holistic blend of form, meaning, material, function and usability. It’s a modular system of “boxes” allowing for any data center setup, assembled like Lego blocks, a huge advantage. To ensure “quantum stability”, the enclosures are extremely robust, constructed with 3” thick doors, aluminum and steel frames, and a balanced component configuration. The main compute module enclosure is all glass (front, sides and back). The glass has an etched pattern that symbolizes the quantum activity inside. The pattern of etched rectangles grows exponentially as it emanates from a center light bar.

This format allows for faster setup, easier maintenance, and scalable deployment, dramatically increasing real-world usability. Key user-centered features include a center lighting strip that functions as a live status bar, providing at-a-glance insight into the machine’s state. Flush, stainless steel door handles ensure safe navigation in tight data center aisles and are lockable with a custom tool to enhance security. The system also maintains the extreme structural stability required for precise laser aiming, while accommodating advanced cooling systems. Aesthetically, the design communicates technological gravitas through a high-depth glass front, austere form, and etched visual patterns that evoke both mystery and precision.
