  • Keratoconus affects approximately 1 in every 84 young Australians. Keratoconus is a progressive eye disease with cornea thinning and protrusion, resulting in irregular astigmatism and serious eye discomfort. 80% of patients suffer from dry eye, pain and other eye discomfort. Management primarily involves uncomfortable rigid contacts to improve vision. Two focused challenges are: One, discomfort from the disease and contact lenses, which hinders their life and sleep quality, Two, after removing the rigid lens from a day of work, patients have limited activity options with impaired mobility thus impaired independence. How might we care for their wellbeing and daily experience?

  • Resulted by research with Keratoconus patients, Sooze supports patients' vision after removal of contact lenses via Virtual Retinal Projection. The headband light engine and the detachable visor collaborate to capture and deliver clear images directly to retinas, irrespective of patient's cornea condition. An electrode on the headband administers low-intensity electrical stimulation via the conductive strap to upper eye and forehead area, boosting tear production, easing eye pain and preventing eye disturbances while awake and asleep. When patients need to sleep and the visor is off, the light engine emits red light at night, further enhancing patients' sleep quality.

  • Sooze revolutionizes care for Keratoconus patients, offering a non-invasive vision improvement and discomfort alleviation. Besides easing their eye discomfort, Sooze supports patients to build on their confidence and independence after removal of contacts. With Sooze, they get to enjoy unlimited activity options safely with reduced risks and discomfort. This leads to a better mood and more positive life attitude, reducing stress and dependence on their loved ones, enhancing productivity during the day. Sooze is capable of helping millions of individuals with other front eye conditions and eye discomfort.

  • Sooze is a modular eye care system that contains: a visor, a headband, a visor storage case and a charging dock. The product line-up is designed with soft, tech and therapeutic product semantic. Sooze visor features a wide-angle camera and a inferred sensor that enables Virtual Retinal Projection, thus providing patients with vision support even in low light occasion. Users will have control to start, automate and stop the Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation and Red Light Therapy session based on diagnosis and recommendation of optometrists and ophthalmologists. Charging is made simple thanks to magnets inside the charging dock and the headband, similar to how the visor snaps onto the headband, patients only need to vertically dock it to charge, this orientation also saves their real estate of their bedside table. Once patients are ready to sleep, they can take off the visor and store it into the storage case, protect the visor from scratches and dust. Designed with manufacturing in mind, parts are designed considering principles including injection mould, collapsible core, TPSiV® over-mould. Components are secured with snap fits, ultrasonic welding and screws for reliability and dust & sweat and water splash resistance in daily use.
