  • The design challenge was to create a sophisticated, high-end urban residence for a master chef and his family of four. It must balance late working hours with family privacy, incorporating zones for parents, children, and guests. Develop expansive communal areas connecting indoor and outdoor kitchens for large gatherings. Include space for a five-car collection and maximize northern solar access. Address privacy and security along two laneways. Deliver a fully self-sufficient, off-grid home powered by solar energy and battery storage—luxury living with zero reliance on the grid.

  • Mirage House offers a refined solution for a master chef’s family, combining luxury, privacy, and off-grid functionality. Its low-profile form follows the site’s slope, separating living zones to reduce disruption from late hours. A brick and timber façade engages securely with dual laneways, while a batten screen provides sun control and privacy. The heart of the home features a double-height living area linking indoor and outdoor kitchens, ideal for entertaining. Private spaces include children’s rooms, a secluded master suite, and a guest wing. With solar power and battery storage, Mirage House delivers sustainable, high-end urban living.

  • Mirage House delivers a high-end residential model that balances commercial value with environmental and social responsibility. Its adaptable, off-grid design reduces long-term energy costs and increases market appeal through sustainable, future-proof features. Environmentally, it minimises reliance on the grid with solar and battery systems, passive design, and durable materials. Socially, it enhances liveability through thoughtful zoning, privacy, and flexible spaces for work, rest, and connection. The home sets a benchmark for urban family living—sophisticated, sustainable, and attuned to modern lifestyle demands.

  • Mirage House is a thoughtful response to the lifestyle of a busy professional working irregular hours and his family. Following the site’s natural slope, the split-level design separates family, guest, and communal areas to support privacy and reduce disruptions. A brick and timber façade engages both laneway frontages, balancing security, privacy, and street presence. A hardwood batten screen softens the exterior, provides solar protection, and conceals key entry points for a clean, minimalist look. At the heart of the home is a double-height living space that opens to indoor and outdoor kitchens, a landscaped courtyard, and a pool, encouraging connection and ease of everyday living. Extensive glazing captures natural light and strengthens the link to outdoor spaces. Mirage House is designed for energy self-sufficiency, with rooftop solar panels and battery storage enabling off-grid capability. Passive design principles, durable materials, and careful orientation further enhance efficiency and long-term sustainability. Modest in form but rich in detail, Mirage House offers a refined, flexible model for contemporary family living, balancing function, elegance, and environmental responsiveness.
