Shane Talbot

NEXT GEN JUROR

Shane Talbot has spent 15+ years designing products that matter, from life-saving medical gear to defence-tech to everyday objects people can’t imagine living without. His work has earned multiple awards, including Good Design Australia’s Design of the Year in 2020.

Most recently, Shane has been working as a freelance industrial designer across multiple Australian design agencies, bringing a broad perspective shaped by years at consultancies including 4design and Design Edge. He also teaches at UTS, where he works with the next generation of designers, which makes judging the Next Gen category a natural fit.

Outside the studio, Shane co-founded Surry Hills Camera Co., a retro camera repair service, and is rarely seen without a camera in hand. He has a weakness for imperfection and anything that rewards slowing down.
