  • MORE
  • Sequencing a complete genome is a complex biological feat that requires specific chemistry and electronics working together in a carefully choreographed process. Our challenge was to incorporate these advanced innovative technologies, components, and processes into one machine that is highly effective, easy-to-use, and differentiates and defines the brand with distinctive styling.

  • Revio is a machine that reimagines and differentiates how a powerful genomic sequencing device looks, moves, feels and communicates. Whipsaw partnered with PacBio to identify an all-new user interaction model through rigorous industrial design and user interaction design practices. This improved model combined with faster data processing drives higher experiment throughput and accelerates research outcomes. It’s the first machine of its kind that can sequence up to 1,300 whole genomes per year for less than $1,000USD per genome, 15-times more than previously offered.

  • Revio sets the new standard for genomic sequencing in the industry and has elevated PacBio to the top of its class. It is the highest performing system at the lowest cost in the Long Read Technology field. The system’s throughput capabilities and affordability bring discovery and innovation closer to a greater user base, while the environmental impact of consumables is reduced by 50% compared to the previous generation sequencer. Human genetics, cancer research, and agricultural genomics are among the vital applications for this kind of system that make Revio so important to the greater good of society.

  • Revio’s bold architectural design language communicates sophistication, competence, and precision, exactly what the PacBio brand and technology offer. Revio features sharp corners, bold blocks of color, a woven wire ventilation grill, and a discreet display behind a flush sliding glass door. The sliding door is one sheet of back-painted Gorilla glass, and the upper right corner of the door has a touchscreen display. The characters on the display appear to float on the large black door since all characters are white, and the display black background matches the black glass door. The internal work deck area features a logical component layout in a light contrasting color. To start a sequencing run, users place their NFC-tagged sample plate and consumables onto the work deck which automatically loads their experiment details for confirmation. Once running, samples are sequenced in the lower area of the machine, allowing researchers to set up back-to-back runs for increased operational efficiency. Sample plates are NFC-linked to experiment data and parameters for automatic detection, enabling setup in less than one minute. Revio offers ergonomic design for user comfort, a small footprint, and easeful communication for the optimal user experience.
