Punk is the result of the 2016 project with Central Saint Martins, London. Student Anke Buchmann used her school’s encouragement of unconventional creativity to form the basis of her unique design. Coinciding with the 40th anniversary, Punk features four distinctive yet affordable products: tumbler, long drink, martini glass, and carafe.

  • CHALLENGE

  • The NEXTGEN students work closely with our engineers and independent designer Stefanie Kubanek, who has been aligned with the project since its inception. At our German factories, they discover both the limitations and possibilities of production, in order to create a saleable product. The winner receives a royalty for the life of the series. Anke used literal translations of key punk visuals - studs, spikes, grids - to design a tactile range of barware products. She played off punk's distinctive and attention-seeking nature to break out of the traditional interpretation of glass homewares; she designed a series not simply fashionable thanks to nostalgia. For us, her creation sums up the future of modern glass
