Award Force is software for leading awards organisers to manage awards entry and judging online. Designed for performance and function, it’s fast, secure and a great experience for entrants, judges, and awards managers.

During discussions with awards managers, entrants, and judges in early 2013 we heard the pains and frustrations with manual processes and existing systems. Awards recognise and celebrate excellence, and we wanted to make the experience of entering and judging a simple joy.

Focussing on good design and performance-oriented architecture, Award Force launched in Australia late 2013, and has grown rapidly to support clients in Australasia, Europe, North America, and the Middle East.

  • A world-first feature—we heard from awards organisers the support burden of entrants asking to make changes to their entry after submission. So we architected Award Force to allow entrants to keep crafting their entry after submission. Entrants can start an entry and take as long as they need to refine and complete over days or weeks before the deadline. Entrants don't need to complete and submit their entry in one sitting. When they are happy with their entry they can submit, and it's ready for judging—but they can edit it if necessary right up until the entry deadline.

  • Award Force is carefully designed with a sharp, contemporary interface that is “themed” to each awards client's brand. It's easy on the eye, if we do say so ourselves—and has won an award in the 2014 US App Design Awards. Entrants, judges, sponsors and organisers appreciate the experience and have provided positive feedback, particularly when comparing prior experience with other systems or processes. Good design and user experience are key differentiators from our competition and have been a decision-driver for many of our clients.

  • The Award Force user interface and information architecture are crafted to be so straightforward to use there's no need for instructions or a manual for judges and entrants—they just need the web address! Judges are often very short on time, and we've had great feedback from awards managers that using Award Force has delivered a significant reduction in the time required from each judge.

  • The Award Force user interface is a responsive design to facilitate mobile judging on tablet or smartphone. Many awards clients arrange multiple rounds of judging, some of which include in-person judging. Judges gathering at a judging event can use a mobile device to access all their entries to be judged and submit scores and comments for real-time collation. Judges can collaborate, yet are still able to score in private, and the direct data entry of scoring ensures optimal data integrity. The elimination of paperwork and administrative handling mean the time and effort from entries closing, to judging start and shortlist, finalist and winner selection are substantially reduced.

    Many awards are dependent on revenue generated from various sources. Award Force makes it easy for awards organisers to accept payment for entries and supply receipts, with no administrative overhead. In an industry-first, Award Force has unique features in the user interface design to provide high visibility to award sponsors, providing sponsors with greater value. Some Award Force clients have introduced sponsorship for the first time based on this capability.

    Award Force was developed in response to the needs of an under-serviced market. We were not the first online award management system, but since launching with a number of industry firsts, the market has responded with enthusiasm. Kaizen (the practice of continuous improvement) and innovation are central to the Award Force culture. We have a roadmap for continuous innovation in features and design which will benefit our clients by being able to improve and grow their awards each year.
